  1. Oh I just thought of this. I tried the ramp into the car idea. Didn't work. Give him a little time and he will do exactly what he was doing as far as jumping into the car before. Rocky, current tripod, jumps right in. Dennis, never did jump in. He would always put his front feet up (or foot up) and wait to be lifted in. Our first tripod, Candy, was up and ready to roll the day after her surgery. She would still lap the other greyhounds in the back yard on three legs. I think she might have been faster on three legs.
  2. I've amputated three times and each one was a different experience. He will be fine. Just give him a couple of weeks. It's like anyone that has surgery. Time heals.
  3. Is this your first amputation? Get the picture is your mind. Stay calm. You know he is much better with the pain gone.
  4. You just need to make an appointment with Oncology for a greyhound. They work as a team. Somewhere there is a photo of the Hound Team. The vets change around as it is a teaching clinic and the vets come in for a year of study as a cancer resident.
  5. I don't know. I would think the vet student would have heard something if there was a problem. I know it does take time to reconstruct the muscles and to shape the area (get the skin back together.)
  6. I know how you are feeling. Can you get a soda or ice cream to get some sugar in you?
  7. Have you thought about contacting OSU? Just to get them in the loop.
  8. Eva, Do you know where the nearest Panara Bread is to the college? I would hang out there a lot with my computer, also the used bookstore, JC Penny Outlet and Eddie Bauer Factory warehouse store. Tommy's pizza right there near the college is also good to eat at. Of course my main eating place was MacDonalds. Also a sewing store with a little sitting area and coffee. Let me know if you are interested in any of these. I was thinking of you and Carrier all night. Keeping you in our prayers. Cora Mom to Angel Dennis (the menace)
  9. Thanks for the update. White light and heavy prayers being sent your way.
  10. Irene and Len, I am so sorry. You are in our prayers. It is so hard to have to be the strong one in these situations. Cora
  11. Hope all is going well today. Checking in to see how Carrier is. Hugs for Eva with kisses for Carrier.
  12. We love nice yellow pee also. Keep up the good work Molly.
  13. Waiting for word on Carrier. Hope you had a safe trip.
  14. Eva, Have a safe trip to OSU. We can only hope for the best for Carrier. We know he will receive the best treatment at OSU. The entire staff at the clinic will be working for him. White light and huge prayers for Carrier Cora, missing Dennis (the menace) so much.
  15. I take in seizure greyhounds because no one else seems to want them. I have two seizure kids right now. One is on phenobarbital and KBr. and the other is just on the phenobarbital. The vet tried to wean the one completely off the phenobarbital onto all Kbr. He finally decided she just needs some phenobarbital in her system. It might take a while for him to settle in with his seizures. Have his levels checked and give him some time. Remember he will probably have some break thru seizures. Also that his weight will effect his medicine, so try to keep his weight down. The phenobarbital does make them hungry. Look for food that will fill him up. Keep something around for him to chew on ( not rawhide ) right after his seizures. Keep some Kongs frozen with his food or peanut butter that will keep him busy when he get restless. Keep a calendar of his seizures and note full moon. My might have seizures a week before the full moon every so often. Then they might have them a week after the full moon. I also give my the Valerian Root supplement.
  16. Oh my. The Holiday Inn was $64.00 for most of my stay's.
