  1. This is sudden news and I wish you the best recovering from it. He is in a better place but will be missed by all. Keep updating your diary, Oscar, to your new listeners.
  2. I'm just reading this now, although I saw something about it in merchandise awhile ago. I just assumed surgery meant plain old surgery. I'm so very sorry for the pain you are feeling and am very happy Artemis isn't feeling the pain right now. Hugs to you and your family even though they may be teary! I see all sorts of good opinions and advice here so I feel no need to add any since I have never gone through this but I feel good knowing that if I ever do have to make these decisions, GT has some wise people with experience and contacts like OSU. Please give Artemis some gentle scritches and kisses for me. She is the best kind of patient there could be because she is helpful in making decisions just by being herself. I hope you are having a wonderful day, dear!!!
  3. Sounds like a wise decision.....I hope he comes through it with flying colors!!!!!
  4. That is such wonderful news.....better than I could have hoped for!!! But I still will be sending positive thoughts so that he continues to recover at this rate!!!!
  5. Feel better, Mini Ginny!!! Here's hoping all discomfort will pass. I would give her pumpkin or yogurt but it doesn't sound like she wants any food. Or something for constipation.
  6. So good to see him trying!!! We will all be sending our healing thoughts Alan's way. Hugs to you all!!!
  7. Well, **I** still think he was brave too since none of us goes through that kind of extreme pain on a daily basis...if he wants to whine or fidget or whatever, it probably made him feel better. It may have made them dope him up but in no way do I believe the tech who called him wimpy!!! I don't call my wimpy human patients that when I draw their blood...I just talk about them afterwards!! Hee hee hee! I'm joking around, of course!! He was probably just exasperated from the urgency of the pain....we all know greyhounds are the best patients since they were brought up at kennels with people taking care of them and frequent checks by vets!!!! They are used to all that!!!! How sweet are those kisses? I love those!!!!! Feel better soon, Beau!
  8. I'm so sorry and I just read this today so I am sending my good thoughts!!! I am so happy to hear there are so many specialists and acupuncturists around who can help. Our green iguana fell inside her cage onto her back, leaving her unable to use her back legs or tail. She didn't break any bones so no one knew what to do. We were sent home with instructions to cage rest her. She never recovered the use of her legs and we PTS one year later as she was completely miserable. It was awful feeling like no one COULD do anything since not a lot of research has been done for iguanas. Sorry, it doesn't help to hear this story except that I have faith that you will find a way to heal Alan, but probably very slowly.
  9. YAY!!! He's home with his family!!!!! Continued good thoughts being sent your way for a wonderful recovery! He sounds very brave and I assume he is facing you again!!
  10. Sending much positivity Mia's way!!!!
  11. I came here to check right away....so glad Beau is on the mend!! I hope for an uneventful and speedy recovery!
  12. Oh, sweet Mimosa....rest up, take it easy and I hope they provided some more pain pills for later!! Best of luck keeping her calm and happy while she recovers!!!
  13. Many good thoughts being sent your way!!!! Beau will be fine once he gets his surgery, you did everything exactly right.
  14. Oh, I hate the heat too!!! 90 degrees is a lot for my boys to take after 40-70 degree weather being the norm so I'm sure the heat was the main factor. It is disconcerting that the vet was quoting values that made no sense but since she/he is concerned about something more, it is good you have the appointment itself and you can doublecheck the reasoning and facts before giving the go-ahead. I know human blood values and some of the reasons the testing gets done (from my job) but dogs are a different matter for me and I trust that the vet has my best interest at heart. But in this case, you and your interest! Are your temps going to be high again on Tuesday? If not, things will be more normal. But, if so, definitely use a cool coat that has an auto chamois type material and bring water to keep it very moist since it gets hard and useless when it dries. We have cooling bandanas we haven't used yet that are supposed to do the trick. I don't know yet though. I've also seen dog umbrellas that are well-sized, they look like golf umbrellas, but I guess they are just for the rain....I think they would do well in the sun too. Now I am rambling! Good luck to you two!! I hope everything goes very well! p.s. Hurley gets hot very quickly since he is black and Woodie is lighter colored but has very thick fur so I see the heat hit my two dramatically since we are doing many more walks with them this year!
  15. I'm so sorry for your loss. He went quickly, all we can ever hope for. He'll hear your goodbye loud and clear from his new home until he can welcome you there himself.

    Tasha

Tasha knows what a beautiful family she had.......I am so sorry you were not there to say goodbye. It is the pain of the survivors, as you said. She will wait patiently and pain-free to see you all once again!!!! Run free, sweetie, you were loved so very much!!!!
  17. Run free, Johnny....as an angel, you will reign supreme!!! Run as fast as you want, dear!!! You will be missed!!
  18. I am very sorry to be reading this, I know how much all of GT was pulling for her to get through all her troubles. Please remember her the way she was when she was with you. Don't blame yourself for not being there, she wouldn't have wanted you to cry over something so insignificant. I'm sure she knew she was home and going to a better place. Lily has her wings now.
  19. I have never seen any spam on here!!! If they have a link that could be really bad...good food for thought! And, yes, one a day is way too many!! Lastly, I just wanted to say I never noticed that REPORT button so now I know!!!!
  20. I guess I have been purposely ignoring Pammy's threads because I have been scared for the worst. I saw your siggy today and I realized I was rude due to some extreme emotionality I have been facing this week. Anyway, none of that means anyhing to you but I want to express my condolences and know that I am very greytful that you and Justin gave her such wonderful senior years!!!! Pammy is the winner here.....run free and long and find every single gopher at the bridge, sweetie girl with the sweetest smile!!!!!!
  21. I'm so very sorry. Your story is such a sweet one except for the end, of course. Run free again, Pretty girl!!
  22. She certainly brightened up your lives and I know you brightened up hers as well. Run free with no pain or worries, sweetie!!
  23. I am so sorry for your huge, unbelievable loss. You will never forget him or replace his special place in your heart. You are in the right place though. There are so many of us here to help each other and learn from. I just learned from you how sudden things like this can be. We have had our first grey for over a year and are not ready to give him up, so I can understand exactly why you need to let it out and share with us. We are here 24-7 and I hope your next adoption goes smoothly and at your own pace, be it quickly or slowly. Luckily for greyhound lovers, there are so many dogs out there in need of a home.
  24. I second the observation of outstanding personalities....our Hurley is a riot wrapped in a flour tortilla, frying in the pan and topped with tons of cheesy enchilada sauce.... what? I mean, Hurley is very sad that his daddy has passed!
  25. Woodie got his e-mail notification today too!!!! Woo Hoo....I told him to be very good and that his package is on the way!!
