Guest Diana
Can anyone recommend a vet specialist who can look into both orthopedic and neurological issues in the state of Connecticut? Ali may have either or both.
Hubcitypam
Don't know about CT, but here we have a surgical speciality center with all the assorted docs in one place. The cool thing about this one is that if they are not busy all the docs will come in and look at your dog -- you could end up getting the opinion of two orthos and a neuro for one (quite expensive) office visit. Maybe ask your vet if there is one near you? (Not that all do the two-or-three-fer deal, but you never know...
Guest LindsaySF
I don't have experience with any in CT, but here are my MA recs: Angell Memorial, Boston MA - Dr. Sisson (neurologist) VCA Northboro, Northboro MA - Dr. Dudley (ortho surgeon)
greyhndz
I don't have experience with any in CT, but here are my MA recs: Angell Memorial, Boston MA - Dr. Sisson (neurologist) < yes, big time. He's brilliant VCA Northboro, Northboro MA - Dr. Dudley (ortho surgeon) Where in CT are you and how far can you travel? Tufts is another option if Angell is too far for you. I'm biased toward Angell. They have MRI, CT, etc. on site. If it's a neurological issue that requires surgery, most vet neurologists are also neurosurgeons (Dr. Sisson is). But if an ortho consult is needed, they can arrange to have it done right there.

MP_the4pack
If NJ is closer, Red Bank Veterinary Hospital is also terrific. It's the largest private hospital in the US. You would take 287 to the Parkway. It's just off the Garden State Parkway at exist 109.
turbotaina
Our group used Dr. Dudley before at the suggestion of a racing trainer. I was very pleased with her. Oh, and the folks at Angell were likewise very good, though we didn't use the neuro there. Good luck! Quote Meredith with Heyokha (HUS Me Teddy) and Crow (Mike Milbury). However, I did recently learned from a vet at Angell that Tufts has a new CT scan (or maybe it was the MRI) that moves super quick and no longer requires major sedation to complete the test. Might be worth keeping in mind.
MaryJane
In Mass, Angel is a good place to take your dog - they cover most of the specialties. Also in Mass, Tufts is not bad although I have not been there for a few years since I predominantly use Angel for emergencies or "out of the ordinary" visits. There is a place in Rhode Island - I believe the name is Ocean State that a few people have also had success with. I think they have a few specialties in-house
