No tights today but socks so nice,

With Penguins skating on the ice

In stripy scarves and bobble hats,

Thank goodness they’re not tabby cats

Or greyhounds would be chasing me,

I’d have to hide up in a tree!

 

Now Gino I’ve been told you’re mean

In fact you’re even called “Mean Gene”!

But this I’m sure must be a tale

Or else a sense of humour fail,

I guess you just told off a pup

Who had the cheek to wake you up.

 

Now I must get down to work,

Bend my back and never shirk

As Santa’s elf I need to know

(answer me please and don’t be slow)

The kind of things that cheer you up

And over runneth from your cup.

Food and treats or toys that squeak,

A bouncy ball? Please tell me all

so back to Santa I can run

And he can guarantee some fun.

To rhyme with Gene, do you wear green,

The smartest greyhound ever seen?

 

On Christmas Day with gifts for all

At your condo he will call

With a present for Vanessa too,

Give her something new to do?

Does she like music soft and low

Or Bluegrass banjos, how they go!

 

Maybe coffee, maybe tea,

maybe beer, perhaps all three?

Food and drink, her tastes I need

So I can go and shop with speed

While Santa has a little nap

Before setting off on his world lap.

 

Ideas please to get things right

‘Cos Santa doesn’t travel light.

With reindeer pulling on his sleigh

I need to get him on his way

With “Ho! Ho! Ho,” and crack of whip

He’s off on this year’s Christmas trip.

when it rains
and pushy sibs, too
make me grumpy
yes they do!
When I see
the good Dr B
I'm much sweeter
sit with Mom
on the seater!

Green is right
dark or bright
one and a half inch
is not too tight!

Food is yummy
fill up my tummy!
soft and chewy,
no hard or beefy
I haven't da teefy!

Toys are hokay,
not really my style.
blankies are better
I dig in a pile!

Mom like tea
breakfast or chai.
Ornaments of us
are always a must!

I just go shopping out in the snow.

 

Speaking of which, my socks today

Are covered in snowflakes silver and grey.

They should be white

but in the night

I stepped in a puddle

and look quite a fright!
