Dental Cleaning recommendation for IL, WI, MI

My greyhound will need a dental cleaning in 2022.  I want to prepare for it. I live in Chicago.  The area dentists charge at least $500 and the sky is the limit.  I am an attorney so that just adds $1000 to any bill because they think they can.....

I  am willing to drive to WI or MI for a great vet who is specifically dedicated or knowledgeable about greyhounds. Please do not recommend the vet who volunteers with Greyhounds Only.  She is a butcher and should not have a license to practice, in my opinion.  I looked on the vet list and did not see anyone who jumped out at me.  I have owned (or been owned by) greyhounds for over 15 years.  

I would prefer a vet who does gentle dentals, sort of non sedation but regular vets rail against this because they say the vet scrapes the teeth and can cause serious dental damage. I have a great Chicago vet but their prices are crazy high and I am not confident that they understand although my dog's vet does get the differences between greyhounds and other dogs.

When we lived in Central IL, we used  St. Joseph Animal Hospital, which is about 10 miles east of Champaign-Urbana off of I-74.  Dr. Birk and Dr. Duncan are excellent vets, and we never had a bad experience there.  Numerous other greyhound owners in the area also use them. Dr. Birk has owned greyhounds in the past and is familiar with the special things that need to be done.  Rocket had a dental there when he started getting tartar buildup.  He came through it fine, and ended up only needing a cleaning, no extractions and no other special things.  Their prices were always fair and I never felt like they did anything that was unnecessary. While they are not a dental specialty center, I wouln't hesitate to use them again if were back in the area.
