Guest kar
Snow had her yearly check up and blood work. All was fine except thyroid was 0.9. Vet said range is 0.9 - 3.5, so she is at very low end. Should I be concerned or is this normal for greys. I know their blood can be different. Also her cholesterol was a little high. macoduck
Thyroid is normal. Did your vet only do the T4 to determine that? Greyhounds T4 .5-3.6 other dogs 1.52 - 3.60 I'd change vets. Guest kar
She mentioned to me thyroid was low - wanted to do another thyroid test - told her I remember her having one a few years ago. Wanted to wait until I posted her blood here to see if anyone knew if that was low for a grey. She said she knew grey's blood work differed in some ways. I know she said they have only three greys in the practice now. When my other two were alive they had five.
tbhounds
Run a TSH. I normally would have said to just recheck in a few months if there are no clinical signs but, when you mentioned her cholestrol was high I think it warrants further bloodwork. Run the TSH. Newgreymom
If you can, have her send the blood to Michigan State Unicersity. They have one of the best labs for canine thyroid panels. You can also pay a small amount more and get an Endocrinologist to interpret the results.
