Guest DanTheMan
My husband took Winnie to the vet yesterday to have two corns removed. I specifically told him I wanted the corns removed because they bother her and she limps on that foot. The vet told him that they are almost healed (they look the same since November) and he gave him Blood Stop to put on her foot a couple of times a day to keep it dry and because it has aloe in it. The list of ingredients does not include aloe. Has anyone ever heard of that kind of treatment for corns?

Time4ANap
It most likely has ALUM - not ALOE. Aluminum chloride (Alum) is the main ingredient in most blood stoppers like styptic powder, etc. You probably thought he said aloe since it's a much more common word. Quote Camp Broodie. Guest DanTheMan
You're right, I called to clarify with another vet and it is Alum. However, she told me to not use the powder and instead to keep the foot moisturized. Either way she said they don't remove corns.
Rickiesmom
I am missing something here - are the corns still in place, but bleeding? Would you be able to post a photo? Guest DeniseL
How does the corn look healed? That's weird. Corns don't heal. They either are hulled or can be removed with the aid of a lotion, oil, etc. I would keep the pad as soft as possible and try hulling at home... I hope you can get relief for your hound, corns are evil, I know. I battled them for awile with my boy... JJNg
I'm a bit puzzled too... Do your dog's corns look like the photos on this site? http://www.grassmere-animal-hospital.com/corns.htm And if your vet isn't familiar with hulling corns, there's a detailed description with photos on this page: http://www.grassmere-animal-hospital.com/corn_hulling.htm Quote Jennifer & Willow (Wilma Waggle), Wiki (Wiki Hard Ten), Carter (Let's Get It On), Ollie (whippet), Gracie (whippet x), & Terra (whippet) + Just Saying + Just Alice
