GreyhoundGirl
Well, Molly and Mason both have giardia (sp?). I suspect they got it from drinking the water in the swimming pools at the dog park. I know in the grand scheme of illnesses this isn't a big deal but it's my first go-round with it. They're on horse-sized flagyl for 10 days. I'm glad I followed my instincts and took in a poop sample. Neither of them have had good poops for a week or so and I saw mucus in both poops within 24 hours which, in the past, has meant worms so I took in a sample today. Sometimes being an anal Annie mommy is a good thing!

macoduck
Pythiosis killed a friend's lab. Again a public pond. By the time a diagnosis was made it was too late. Just in case your dogs don't bounce back from the giardia, consider testing for this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythiosis http://www.pythiosis.com/ Edited June 15, 2013 by macoduck Quote Freshy (Droopys Fresh), NoAh the podenco orito, Howie the portuguese podengo maneto Angels: Rita the podenco maneta, Lila, the podenco, Mr X aka Denali, Lulu the podenco andaluz, Hada the podenco maneta, Georgie Girl (UMR Cordella), Charlie the iggy, Mazy (CBR Crazy Girl), Potato, my mystery ibizan girl, Allen (M's Pretty Boy), Percy (Fast But True), Mikey (Doray's Patuti), Pudge le mutt, Tessa the iggy, Possum (Apostle), Gracie (Dusty Lady), Harold (Slatex Harold), "Cousin" Simon our step-iggy, Little Dude the iggy ,Bandit (Bb Blue Jay), Niña the galgo, Wally (Allen Hogg), Thane (Pog Mo Thoine), Oliver (JJ Special Agent), Comet, & Rosie our original mutt. Booker_Aye
Tomorrow is the Greyhound Rescue and Rehab annual picnic in Bethel, CT, and there is a nice pond in the park where it is held. I know some greyhounds who will KNOT be going in the pond! GreyhoundGirl
It wasn't a pond; it was one of those kiddie pools if that makes you feel better!
