Toe Amputation Recovery Time?

Recommended Posts

Our Jack had an outside digit removed last year on his front left paw. It took him a couple weeks to stop 'limping' on it as he favoured it for a bit.

Two weeks post-surgery should be good. Your dog might favor that leg for a bit, but the surgical site will be healed, barring complications.

Sam had a middle toe on right hind foot amputated a few years ago and it is about 2 weeks. He healed well and it was the best decision I ever made for him! He had been reduced to 3 legging it the days before surgery so we really had no choice but it was the right thing to do. He healed and never looked back.

My foster Hannah had an inside toe removed 2 weeks ago. She has done really well. Has hardly limped on it at all. Where as before, she wouldn't put any weight on it and walked a lot on 3 legs. Still waiting for the hair to grow back, but other than that it looks really good and she doesn't seem to miss it.
