Guest argolola
Rudy had his yearly exam and shots yesterday. All in all he got a good report, although he has lost 5 pounds in a year. The vet isn't concerned, and said he looks good. He thinks since Rudy is so sensitive and I have been sick, that could be the reason he is down a few pounds. He is a Mama's boy and he is super sensitive to me. Has anyone's pup been through this? Thanks.
4greyhounds
Yes, I just came home from the hospital last Saturday and for the first few days 3 of mine had the big D. Then Pongo would not eat..... Finally after a few days, everything got back to normal. I am happy to hear he got a good check up and I hope you are feeeling better. CaliforniaGreys
5lbs is not a lot of weight to lose over the course of a year. How do you think he looks? Rudy sounds very much like Wayne with his sensitivity. Guest Greyt_dog_lover
What was his race weight, and his weight before the 5 lb loss? Also, can you see any of his ribs or any of his spine bumps on his back?
GeorgeofNE
I wouldn't be concerned about 5 pounds in a YEAR. George goes up and down at every visit. I'm not convinced the scales are calibrated often at most vets, and I have weighed a dog two or three times and gotten two or three weights within minutes of each test weigh. So he may not have actually lost 5 pounds! Quote Susan, Hamish, Mister Bigglesworth and Nikita Stanislav. Missing Ming, George, and Buck
Guest BlingDogs
Don'r worry about it. As long as he's acting fine and still as active as before, it's nothing. Best wishes!
Batmom
If his weight and demeanor are good, I'd just keep an eye on it. Guest argolola
Thanks everyone. Yes, I can see his ribs and the ridge along the spine. I'm not sure of his race weight. Hopefully, he is just a sensitive boy. We know he has thrombocytopenia, but the doc is pleased with that at this point. His gums and teeth look good too.
