Rudy had his yearly exam and shots yesterday. All in all he got a good report, although he has lost 5 pounds in a year. The vet isn't concerned, and said he looks good. He thinks since Rudy is so sensitive and I have been sick, that could be the reason he is down a few pounds. He is a Mama's boy and he is super sensitive to me. Has anyone's pup been through this? Thanks.

Yes, I just came home from the hospital last Saturday and for the first few days 3 of mine had the big D. Then Pongo would not eat..... Finally after a few days, everything got back to normal. I am happy to hear he got a good check up and I hope you are feeeling better.

5lbs is not a lot of weight to lose over the course of a year. How do you think he looks?

Rudy sounds very much like Wayne with his sensitivity. Please give him a big hug from us

What was his race weight, and his weight before the 5 lb loss? Also, can you see any of his ribs or any of his spine bumps on his back?

I wouldn't be concerned about 5 pounds in a YEAR. George goes up and down at every visit. I'm not convinced the scales are calibrated often at most vets, and I have weighed a dog two or three times and gotten two or three weights within minutes of each test weigh.

So he may not have actually lost 5 pounds!

If his weight and demeanor are good, I'd just keep an eye on it.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I can see his ribs and the ridge along the spine. I'm not sure of his race weight. Hopefully, he is just a sensitive boy. We know he has thrombocytopenia, but the doc is pleased with that at this point. His gums and teeth look good too.
