Guest mcsheltie
I know this has been discussed many times. But I am not at home, so I'm not on my computer. And I don't have my med books here. My friend's Grey is suffering from non-food allergies. Her Dexamethasone shot has just worn off. She would like to try some OTC meds this weekend. It would be great if something would work and Juni wouldn't have to be on steroids. So... my question is what can we give her besides Benadryl? And what would be the dose for a 63 lb Grey? TIA! Burpdog
Tavist1 (not D) You can buy it in generic. I think it is cleminstine furamate. I'll go check. I get it by the 100 at Allivet Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits

Burpdog
1 twice a day. On the big boys I've gone to 1 1/2 twice a day. Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
PatricksMom
Benadryl is 1mg/lb of body weight. So I'd start her at 50 mg. I don't know about the shot that she had--I'd check with the vet to see how long you have to wait before giving another medication though. GreyPoopon
Betsy (65 lbs) is taking 1 10 mg cetirizine hydrochloride 2 x / day. The best known brand here is Reactine, but I've been buying the generic. tbhounds
I have had wonderful results with Chlortrimeton. Comes in 4mg tablets. For my 75lb boy I give 2 tablets 2-3 times a day--I have not experienced any side-effects.
