Guest ZBippy
He's so cute! Have you been able to get him to sit at all? A lot of greyhounds don't sit. Two of ours sit on command, one sits on accident (he tries to lean on the couch and misses and ends up in a sit ) and the fourth never sits. It might be easier to get Jiggy to sit since he is a puppy.

Guest Supercoley1
What are her concerns? I think the main problem is that she didn't choose him. Anything that isn't her idea and choice is always 'rubbish' no matter what anyone else says Have you been able to get him to sit at all? A lot of greyhounds don't sit.<img src="http://forum.greytalk.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/lol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="lol.gif" />) He sits on command but only normally if he is going to get something. Still very excitable at 16 months old. He sits and waits when I do his brekkie and dinner and also for treats but trying to get him to sit whilst waiting to cross the road is not something that is going to happen .lol How did you find GreyTalk? Welcome! I was searching on google for greyhound sites to do some research on needs, expectations etc before we got him A new(er) pic for you: Will have to weigh him to see how heavy he is now On another note, he hasn't been castrated. Not sure whether it is worth it really. When he tries he is knocked back etc, and he is never let off the lead when outside the garden so not going to be a risk of any babies AC Edited May 11, 2010 by Supercoley1

Guest Shana
On another note, he hasn't been castrated. Not sure whether it is worth it really. When he tries he is knocked back etc, and he is never let off the lead when outside the garden so not going to be a risk of any babies AC Im sorry, but I cannot ignore this. Everyone who is not breeding specifically should have their dog fixed (only exception being the dog would not be able to handle the surgery and die). Greyhounds get loose. All dogs can get loose. I am NOT saying yours will, but why take the risk? You say you wont have him off leash, but how do you know when there is a situation where he may be off leash? Male dogs have a nose for females in heat. If he gets out, and roams a little... if there is a female is in heat... he will find her. There are so many greyhounds that need homes coming off the track. There are so many more other dogs in shelters that need homes. Please have him fixed. We don't need more dogs in this world when so many have to be put down for the same reason. Please don't be ignorant enough to think you can prevent it. Please dont take the risk. I am not trying to push you away, or be rude. This is something I take very seriously though, and I am trying to change a mind and help the pet population. Your boy is absolutely beautiful!! I love the black and white ones Congratulations with your new addition. Your wife will come around
Guest Supercoley1
Please have him fixed. We don't need more dogs in this world when so many have to be put down for the same reason. I am looking into this already Long time since I was last on here Yesterday at the park Jiggy was not as per normal. Even though on his lead he used to be very friendly with other dogs. Nose to nose and nose to **** etc. but yesterday we were talking to some other dog owners and there were 2 females and a young male (not greyhounds) and he was quite aggressive. Strangely not towards the young male but towards the 2 females!!! Anyways Jiggy is now 19 months old and much bigger than other greyhounds I see although he only weighs 25kg. I have some more piccies of him (The kids are 4 and 5 and are best mates with Jiggy) Here he is testing out the patio whilst it is being made. fsugrad
Jiggy has grown up to be a beautiful boy!!! . I would definitely have him fixed, though! Guest MyCody
We had to have a male fixed when he was 8 for health reasons and we were sorry we waited so long, it's more difficult for them, it is much healthier for them to be neutered. Your boys are adorable, your wife was brave getting a pup when they were 3 and 4, no wonder she didn't have time to come on, at least I don't think she has yet, just saw these postings. Please if you don't mind a suggestion from a great grandma, be careful of your handsome boys laying on top of their fur brother. Yes, I'm a worrier, sorry. RobinM
I remember when you adopted him. He is so beautiful. I too agree to have him fixed not only for all the reasons Shana mentioned which are correct, but there are many male urologicial issues that can be avoided by having it done.
