Guest GreysAndMoreGreys
Just a question. Was the leg wrapped and set for the 2 weeks between all this? Is it possible that the knee was just dislocated and the first vet assumed the ligament was destroyed? It's hard to see that first x-ray but that second one, I really can't see any area where the top bone "exploded" In 2 weeks I can't imagine it would heal up that quickly. Whatever is going on, very cool that no surgery is needed and so glad surgery wasn't done right at the get go, LORD knows what could have happened
Guest hvacman250
Just a question. Was the leg wrapped and set for the 2 weeks between all this? Is it possible that the knee was just dislocated and the first vet assumed the ligament was destroyed? It's hard to see that first x-ray but that second one, I really can't see any area where the top bone "exploded" In 2 weeks I can't imagine it would heal up that quickly. Whatever is going on, very cool that no surgery is needed and so glad surgery wasn't done right at the get go, LORD knows what could have happened Anything is possible, but I'll go a little more into detail. Look at this new xray and you can see the damage on the lower bone/tibia (fractured tibial crest; there is also a big bone chip in the upper righthand corner of the tibia/growth plate) The leg was never wrapped and we let him be. He was on Rimadyl from day one, but that its. He has a big scrape on his knee where he possibly hit the corner of a 4x4 post (the kids playhouse). OUr backyard is about 100'wide by 250'long, so they get a lot of speed up and carry it thru the "corner" by the playhouse. The scrape didnt break thru the skin, but did scrape all the hair off and bleed a little. So, no, it wasnt set. We just kept him quiet. The first vet/ortho guy sedated him and manipulated the joint. The medical term they used was he was "positive for cranial drawer" - I was told that means the cruciate ligament are damaged/torn. He specialized in ACL and commented this was the worst knee he had ever felt/seen. Refused to do the surgery because of the complexity. One week later were at the specialist and here. TheFullHouse
Man, that's a good looking x-ray! What fantastic news. One thing I learned with Bullitt, puppies heal very quickly. Bullitt broke two toes when he was 6 months old. They healed perfectly and you would never know it today. Congratulations! A little more rest and I'll bet he's back as good as new!
