Madeara
Say you received the chemo free from OSU what was the cost of administrating it? I am not being cheap with my girl but honestly I was a bit taken back with the estimate I received today. Burpdog
Depends on what else is done--blood work included? I have heard of $100-200 to the most expensive at the million dollar hospital here which was around $600 (and I think ridiculous) Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
Guest larock
We used to take our boy to the specialist every month or so. His chemo drug was given monthly, in 4 rounds, every 12 hours. It was not for cancer but to contol an infection in his brain fluid (GME). The cost for the initial visit was always about 145, which included the chemo drugs. The cost for the other 3 visits to his regular vet for adminstration of the chemo drugs was about 125 (for all three visits combined). We live in Canada though, I have found in general that vet proceedures are more costly here. Edited July 22, 2008 by larock
patricia
The administration here was very high when Angel LaceyLaine was on chemo. They charge for the catheters...iv solutions and iv tubing...biohazard waste...blood tests...x-rays...heart echo... Know that my heart and prayers are with you on this journey. feemandvm
A big part of the cost of chemo is not just the cost of the drug... but EVERYTHING else. IV catheters. Very careful use of the drug and monitoring of the patient. Additional fluid therapy if needed. Bloodwork or ultrasounds of the heart if warranted based on the drugs. Etc. GreyTzu
Dylan's Oncologist would not administer it. I located one Vet who would and her charge was not much less then the Oncologist. I did not accept the free offer as it was not a savings. There was also the shipping and handling of such a toxic drug. Not something any local Vet would do. Good luck Audrey.
