Hi from Florida's Space Coast!

I've finally gotten 'round to joining a greyhound community (of sorts). The pet food recall spurred me to take the time and 'live online a bit', do some reading and educate myself more about how to nourish my greyhound better (so far, Pro Plan hasn't been included in the recall, but... I'm not trusting luck). I started reading in the forums and was so entertained that I had to join.

Anyway...an intro of sorts. Sassy is our red fawn greyhound, we've had her for 5 years. She is a retired racer and is 7 years old. She did not race for long (she developed gate-shyness and was retired at age 2). She loves socializing with people--especially children, chasing squirrels and turning her nose up at meals. And sleeping upside down.

Max is my American Longhair cat -- sweet to me, but nasty to the rest of the world. He's a bully, tolerates Sassy and the rest of the world, which he thinks he rules.

I am a retired nurse, love birds, wild animals (the kind with fur, just to clarify :blush ) and nature.

Glad to have found you all.

Becky

Hi! I just joined in March - still a newbie - or wet behind the ears. Something like that. Have not really gotten into a conversation with anyone. I guess I pick unpopular times to log on. Really busy with 2 Lilac Headed Amazons, 2 gray cockatiels, 2 Russion Gold tortoises (that run loose a lot in my home), 2 rescued cats (black alley cat & a Ragdoll with 3 teeth in his mouth, & my 2 Greyt girls: Ginger (red fawn) & Chloe (black girl). It is the Greys that are getting me out of my shell. I am an introvert and spend a lot of time with my pets only. Now I am motivated to meet Greyt people.

So nice to read the conversations, but not very good at joining in.

Ciao!!

Hi Becky - I have a tortoiseshell short hair who sounds very similar - except she does NOT tolerate the rest of the world!! Only me!

I love birds & wildlife too - do you ever get to the wildlife refuges near you? I know someone who works at one of them.

If you're ever in the DC area & you like to bird, let me know ahead of time - I'd love to take you out birding!! (I volunteer at the local wildlife refuge & am very nearby the arboretum)

Oh -and welcome to GT!
