  1. Can she call OSU asap? Dr Couto has been doing a study on blood clotting problems with Greyhounds (I just heard him talk about it last weekend at the GEM event) .... I can't remember the drug he was talking about that showed great promise in just these cases .....

    Call OSU !!!

  2. When I got Doc at the end of January he was the poster boy for foot corns ... had several on each foot! I hulled them out with my fingernail, packed the holes left with bag balm & rubbed his pads with bag balm. Here we are ... Mid May - NO CORNS can be found on any of his feet, his pads are soft again. No signs of them growing back. :yay

How did I get them to all go away? Was it hulling and the Bag Balm? Was it the switch to Solid Gold Hund and Flocken (sp?) food? Was it the change in enviroment?

I don't know, but I'm glad that they are GONE !!!!

  3. How unbelievably sad .... We were gone yesterday .... didn't hear about this till this morning & I'm in tears here ....

I'm so glad I didn't watch the Derby this year and witness this tragedy.

    Run free Eight Belles .....

  4. Welcome from Gladwin Michigan!

You should try to make it to the GEM event in Taylor on May 10th with the Lovely Leigh .... with you both being brand-new Grey owners, there's lots of shopping that needs to be done. :nod There are also a couple seminars that you may find very interesting to sit in on.

You'll find Greytalk to be a place where people really care, and they'll truly help each other. I'm glad to see more people from Michigan on the boards all the time.

I am so sorry. I'm sure Fudgie was Play bowing

when he saw his bestest friend coming to join him :gh_bow

This is such a shock, I'm in tears for you ....

  6. Congratulations! He's really a looker!

He's coming straight from Florida? Be sure you have a warm coat ready for him .... LOL !!

I adopted my first hound years ago from Florida and flew him home at the end of February. ( I adopted him while on vacation & bought him a plane ticket to fly home with me)

It was a rude awakening for him to come off of the Airplane to sleet, cold wind and snow. :omg

Poor guy went from Sunshine and 80 degrees to a Michigan winter storm in less than 6 hours.

He adjusted - of course. :D But I had to buy him a coat right away & then he came to love the snow .....

  7. I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this.

Since I lost my Pup to Osteosarcoma, I know the pain. :brokenheart It took me the longest time to even be able to read others threads about their dogs having it. Almost two years later, I still broke out in tears when I read about your sweet girl.

The best advise I can give you is to spoil her rotten, and try to tell yourself that she is NOT dying TODAY (so you can be with her without crying). I felt so bad for my poor Pup, as he could tell how sad I was - and I'm sure that this made him sad too.

Feed her all her favorite foods, and when she gets to the point where she doesn't want to eat, scramble up eggs with lots of cheese and bacon and mix a bit of her kibble in it. Do what you can to keep her eating. She needs all the nutrition you can get into her to fight this battle.

And one last thing ---- Please take the time to take lots of photos of her. They will be so very precious to you in the years to come.

Sending hugs to both of you,

    Cory

  8. Karen - I am SO glad that the wandering box finally made it to you!

I wish I was talented enough to make such a lovely quilt. No, I purchased it at a Church Bazaar for Tavi. I found a booth with ladies selling these lovely quilts that they had made - all to raise money for the homeless shelter for women. So - I looked, and they just happend to have one that looked to be proper "greyhound Size" I hope Tavi will enjoy cuddling with it on the cold winter nights to come. There is always love and snuggles in a handmade quilt. :heart

The wipes are necessary for Tavi's winter survival too .... to wipe the ice melter & salt off of his paws after his walks. :snowman

I hope you have a wonderful Holiday, :Peace

Sending lots of belly rubs to Tavi & Bia.

  9. Hi Tricia!

I have to say I was excited to see that YOU were Rainy's Secret Santa :xmas when the packages came yesterday. We so enjoyed being Fiona's Secret Santa last year ... :snow

Rainy spent a good five minutes sniffing the packages all over ....... she knew that there were good things inside! I think she smelled the Banana Bisotti, Milkbones, Moose Munch and the Tim Horton's Coffee!

She was so funny when I opened the first box and started unwrapping stuffy upon stuffy .... and Rainy gently took them one-at-a-time from me and pounced and chewed on each one - just to make sure they understood who was boss in the house. :lol

Here's a photo of her with the screaming monkey - That's some serious stuffy killing going on - the photo is just a blur of fur.

    PC060013.jpg

Rainy wants to thank you for all the BLING !!! :star She really loves to dress up for her Therapy dog visits, and all the necklaces and charms are lovely (you have awesome taste in jewelry !!)

We were in need of some Christmas accents - so we love the red velvet & Santa fur sleigh bell collar (I still need to convince Rainy that this is NOT a toy :D ) - and the cute one with all the bows on it. Rainy just had to model the two blue necklaces for you, as they go perfectly with the beaded martingale that she was wearing.

    PC060017.jpg

Thanks too Tricia - for all the goodies that were in the boxes for me, too! I love the Christmas ornament & The Greyhound soap is going in my guest bathroom.

I will be hanging the air freshener in my car today - how clever to see it made in the shape of a Greyhound. I was a bit concerned though, at the "Monkey Farts" scent .... :o:lol Not to worry, I found out that Monkey Farts are quite fruity ..... :lol Thanks for the Greyhound pin and the cute Rainy keyring, too!

And .... if Rainy didn't think the the now-famous "biscuit picture" was embarrasing enough ---- I buried her in all the stuffies you sent and took photographic proof of the pure torture that she had to go through!

    PC060023.jpg

Thank you for all the wonderful gifts - Rainy is going to have so much fun trying to kill all the stuffies. I have left two of them out for her to play with, and will give her two new ones each week to keep her play time fun. Things have been SO icy here, there are no zoomies attempted in the yard - or outside play at all. :snowman She cut one of her paws on the ice crust on the snow last night just trying to go out and pee. :sad1

Thank you for spoiling Rainy (and I!) -

    Merry, Merry Christmas,

and HUGS to Finnigan & Fiona

    Cory & Rainy :Peace
