  1. The hounds only stay with me for routine stuff like shots, or blood draws for heartworm and tick disease testing. I make separate appointments for nails trims so they are usually taken in the back for that. If they are having a difficult time they ask me to come back and help. I've gone back with Carolina a few times because she won't budge from the waiting room.

Stitches, staples, bandage changes etc. are all done in the back. We hardly see any vet techs, they are all in back waiting for something to help out with.

I trust 4 out of the 5 vets on staff, so I have no problems with them taking them in the back. The vet practice is in a small building so they don't really have treatment rooms in the back just operating rooms. So they serve double duty.

The e-vets are the same way. You sit in the waiting room and they eventually bring out your dog. One e-vet I have used (and it will only be once) took Jake did all his bandage changes and slapped us with a bill. Only talked to a vet his first time there and that was it.

We always get told what they are going to do and the vet brings the kids back out and tells us what he did; how it's healing etc.

  2. I'm posting this for my Aunt and her 11 year old girl Tootsie.

She doesn't eat much, which for her is very unusual. She usually eats like a pig. She almost seems disoriented, like she's not sure where she is at. Tuesday, when this started, she was pacing and panting, not wanting to lay down. She wasn't whining like she was in pain but seemed very anxious. She seems a little better but still seems disoriented, didn't eat her breakfast today.

The vet took some x-rays of her belly, thinking maybe it was twisted or an air pocket, but they came back ok. He didn't do any blood work which I wish he would have. She seems to go potty ok, but she doesn't want to go out when I ask her. I have to really beg her. Maybe her hips or legs are bothering her that she doesn't want to go out, but she seems fine climbing the steps upstairs, not sure of herself coming down the steps though, so I walk with her on one side. She is on supplements. Vet says she seems pretty heathly to him. Don't know! Something is going on. We know our greys and something isn't quite right with her. She had no fever when they took it.

Don't know if it is related to her strange behavior or not but Claire was sick on Sunday. She through up a couple of times. I had given them chicken and rice instead of beef and rice in their breakfast, maybe it was bad food again.

Any help or thoughts you could provide would be wonderful. I will pass everything on to her.

  3. I would take her in anyway.

Not to scare you or anything but when Kira was diagnosed with osteo she went through stages of limping and then being perfectly fine (in connection to whatever drug she was on). It eventually got to the point that the limp stayed.

Take her in for xrays and more or less peace of mind.

    Sending good thoughts.
