  1. thanks everyone we can use all the support we can get after loosing morty saul and zie so close this is a little tougher he has only been with us since june and he is a real character loves everyone, hugs, kissed and loves the throw his stuffies cross room and fetches them back to himself paula it is good to hear that with no treatment piper lived another 2 years and especially since you didn't know when piper first developed it
  2. we took our boy to an onocologist today for those of you who remember he had a growth on his skin turned out to be hemangiosarcoma after xrays and sonogram showed no spread to internal organs we decided to take him to an onoologist his spleen is a tiny bit enlarged but no cancer at this point in the spleen the oncologist was terrific, really nice, very knowledgeable knew all about osu etc he had just come back from a big conference where he learned all the new studies on hmangiosarcoma stuff that isn't even published yet there are 4 routes to decide 1. do nothing 2.chemo 5 treatments 3 weeks apart 3.oral chemo daily for at least a year l4.ast chemo 5 treatments 3 weeks apart and oral chemo for 1 year the most aggressive of the treatments if it stays on the skin average life span is 3 years if not then 18months so we decided on option 4 his first chemo is jan 12 the good news is they chemo takes less then a 1/2 hour they blood test him and he is on a heart motinor the entire time we felt really good about the dr. really nice down to earth when i asked him what he would do if it were his dog he said "don't go by me i am nuts with my animals" really liked that answer as we were leaving we bumped into someone who had 2 greyhounds one was diagnosised with the same 4 years ago and no recurrence and his grey is now 14.5 thanks for listening
  3. may you have an easy treatment and know there are a whole bunch of your buddies out there
  4. a good friend's grey had a small cycst on his toe it was cancerous so they amputated the toe and he is doing fabulous more then 2 years later so even if g-d forbid it is cancer he will be fine
  5. well melman had additional surgery on thursday to make sure all the margins and a little growth were clear thank g-d they are there is a 30% chance even tho we have had xrays and a sonogram and there are no signs of the cancer in his organs it could spread we are taking him to an oncologist on monday tp see if they suggest chemo thanks everyone for your good thoughts
  6. so sorry for what you guys are going thru it stinks hugs
  7. i have learned if i am going to worry about it it is better for me to take them to the vet i do go overboard many times our vets laugh and send us home especially the time i brought myron in cause i thought he was bleeding internally and it was a suntan

  12. it is amazing how fast they recover just remember he doesn't know what is going only he just feels you love!!!! but a mommy chicken soup is miracle drug (lol)
  13. hoping for an easy uneventful recovery i am a firm non believer in "usually" and statistics i there is a one in a billion chance it could not be cancer then monty could be that one it is is aggressive in 99% monty could be the 1% my dad was given a less then 5% chance of making it thru the night he lived another happy healthy 22 years we were told saullie would only live 3-4 months tops with osto and no amputation etc he lived another year i was told not to worry there was less then a 1 in 250,000 person chance i would have this condition i do and finally i was told from diagnosis to death 18 months tops i am healthy 10 years later and going strong monty will fit into my school of thought lol
  14. some more good news his sonogram results came in today and there are no signs of the cancer in his spleen etc we saw a tiny little red thing on his other side so our vet is going to check it out when he removes some more of the area where the orginal spot was on thursday after that we will make the decision whether to do chemo my daughter is an accupunturist and an herbologist so she is going to check out herbs to give him if we don't go with chemo thanx for everyones healthy thoughts
  15. morty died at 13 of osto last dec he lived 3.5 months saullie died at 11.5 in june of osto saull amazed everyone no chemo or amputation just strict died artisnimin and lots of mushy hugs he lived a year chester died at almost 10 of mast cell casy our non grey kerry blue died of cancer at 13 zie our wolf hybrid died at 16 of cancer last jan now our new guy has cancer he is only 5.5 we are waiting today for sonogram results so make sure it hasn't spread to his organs i read an article that said over 65% of all dogs will die of some form of cancer really sticks
  16. I am so sorry There is nothing i can say but just know everyone is here for you I don't post much but always come to the board when I have questions re any of my pups I learned so much when morty & saullie got sick with osto when we lost them the support was amazing especially since i am not a "regular" Now with our new guy having Hemangiosarcoma I came here to find out other experiences sending hugs and a speedy uneventful removal
  17. a happy healthy uneventful holiday season and many more to come you go girl
  18. our boy had xrays today of his stomach, heart and lungs today and thank g-d nothing!!! monday a sonogram if that shows nothing then the vet is going to do a little deeper surgery to make sure if all goes well and i know it will then it is just keep a close eye on him for any little bump they don't feel he will need chemo at this point since in the first surgery there were clean margins
  19. unfortunately our chester died of mast cell for him it was very aggressive and very painful we would have done anything to keep him but he would cry in pain just make sure it is mast cell and if it we would do the chemo hugs to billy jack
  20. [ My angel Cassie also had dermal Hemangio. Here is a site I went to, to read up about itHemangio Also when they remove the tumor they should be able to tell you what "grade" it is. I would take all that info and then judge if I wanted to continue on with more testing and treatment you know i was half listening to the vet when he called we just lost 3 dogs to cancer and i was in a state of shock the margins are clear i forgot to ask what grade he was giving me all the protocols that were an option if it is not in his internal organs he told me things were in our favor but i am not one to go by statistics so i shut off after that he is having xrays on friday but i will be away my poor dh will be bringing him again thanks everyone for your knowledge and kind words
  21. thanks for your responses. you guys are terrific in your fast reponses!!! his tumor looked somewhat like the pictures thank g-d his margins are clear xrays of chest and lungs on friday then sonogram next week if everything is clear then he will go on chemo forever they are probably going to remove some more area as long as nothing else shows up our vet is working with an oncologist we are switching him over to a no carb totally wholistic diet
  22. does anyone have any information on this? where are they doing the most work? treatment?
