  1. Well the line for DQ was crazy so got them a box of Frosty Paws from Kroger instead :) The apirin I got are tiny so was easy to sneak in the peanut butter and he gobbled it right down. He's eating his regular food right now :) limping a little bit but not as bad as last night/this morning. He's such a good boy

  2. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for all the good thoughts and prayers :grouphug once again they worked!!!!!!!!!

It's not Great news but it's good news (it's NOT cancer) but it is a bone chip in his middle knuckle. Looked like a triangle on the x-ray wedged inbetween the two finger bones. She advised against surgery due to his age and he seemed to be handling it well while at the vet (little monster hardly limped at all once we got there <_< ) but instead said continue with the glucosamine and a buffered aspirin (gotta run up to Walgreens soon as Black Jack calms down :lol he's so excited that we are home)

soooooooo... just gonna treat it with the aspirin and continue with glucosamine (watch out Claudia.. I'll have my checkbook next weekend at Greyhounds of the Bluegrass and WILL be stocking up!!!) and hopefully that will do the trick, but if it gets worse then she said I should think about having it removed. PRAY IT GETS BETTER :hope

Thank you again for all of the prayers!!! We appreciate and love you guys :)

  3. That's what I am hoping :hope It stormed last night while I was gone (tried to get home before the storm hit but got lost on the way home <_< ) anyhoo... sometimes when it storms, he climbs behind the recliner and rolls up in a little ball... maybe he did that last night and hit his foot on something :dunno I hope that's all it is. He's sacked out right now and has been all morning. Hasn't even attempted to go out and I've let Black Jack out about 4 times now.

  4. Thanks guys :grouphug Trying to stay positive, but when your babies aren't feeling good and acting like themselves, just breaks your heart :(

My appointment is at 4:00 p.m. and is 25 miles away in Finchville so might not get home until 6:00 or so. I promise to update as soon as I get home and get settled.

  5. Good thoughts and prayers worked last time, can you spare a few more??? :cry1

Got home last night and noticed Major was limping, looked for a corn, nothing. his paw looks a little swollen, but not really, felt around and he makes no "ouchie" faces so can't find a source of pain :(

He got up this morning and could barely walk, I had to carry him downstairs. He did go to the bathroom but came inside and went to sleep. He's been on his doggie bed ever since and I tried to get him to get up a few minutes ago to go to the bathroom but he's just laying there sleeping. :(

My vet is out of the office today, but Jennifer Watkins gave me the name and number of her vet in Finchville, we have an appointment at 4:00 p.m.

Please keep Major in your thoughts and prayers :hope

  6. Thank everyone for sharing your thoughts with us. It really helps to know others are thinking about her and missing her as well.

I had a weird radio incident the other day (even e-mailed my step sister about it) now that I think about it, I wonder if Trish had anything to do with it? I hope she did :)

  7. weird.. I've been thinking about her a lot lately too in the past few days. :( I miss her too!!!

Just makes me think even more than ever, that life is too short and don't put off stuff until tomorrow.

  8. WHEW :) That's good news!!! Just now seeing this, so thank God I didn't have to wait til tomorrow to see the good news :)

I know what you mean about the not having any money and the unexpected vet bills. I've spent over $400 myself last month on Major and Black Jack (both are doing much better now thank God) But my neighborhood is having a yard sale on Saturday and I'm cleaning house BIG TIME and getting rid of a ton of "JUNK" i.e. stuff I never use and is just laying around collecting dust. Maybe you and the boys could have a yard sale to make up some extra money :)

  9. Glad to hear that Black Jack is all better.

Sending prayers that Major gets better soon too. He could've been sore from getting the x-rays done :dunno . I know almost every time any of our guys have had x-rays, they seem to be worse for a day or 2 just from the way they've had to "pose" for the x-ray. Hopefully thats all it is.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. He had a pretty rough time trying to get the x-rays. They only got one because he had a panic attack and then went to the bathroom everywhere :(

Can't really tell if Major is getting better or not yet... seems like he got worse AFTER the vet visit so it's hard to tell if he's better or not. :dunno

That happens. When Turbo had an MRI, his first physical therapy treatment was basically for the soreness the MRI caused.

Are they keeping Major on rimadyl or trying a different NSAID. Just like with people, not all NSAIDs work the same - some people like Advil better than Tylenol, know what I mean? He might respond better to a different drug.

Sending good thoughts for your boys...

Staying on the Rymadill for now. I don't think I was giving him enough so he advised to up the dosage. I was only giving him 75 mg a day (half in the morning and half at night) he's now on 3/4 of a 75 mg in the morning and 3/4 of a 75 mg at night. So we'll see how that works for a couple of days.

  10. Can you put your fingers all the way around it?? Like can you pull the skin and pinch it and it's still inside the skin and not attached to a bone/muscle or something of that nature??

Major has one on his arm (has had it for about 6 years now).. just a fatty thingie :) He has a couple of smaller ones on his chest too.

    Hope it's just a fatty thingie :)

  11. Thanks for all of the prayers, white light, positive vibes, good thoughts, etc.. if you have just a few more you can spare send em our way :)

    VET VISIT TODAY

Black Jack passed with flying colors :yay He examined his leg and since he responded so well to the Rymadill so quickly he's convinced it was just a sprain. He's back to 100% but advised against heavy exercise for a couple more weeks.

Major on the other hand has NOT responded at all to the Rymadill (he's been getting 75 mg a day) half a pill in the am. half in the pm. (Maj weighs 66 lbs) He's been limping pretty bad since Friday and no improvement at all. He examined him and he has tenderness in both back legs, left one is a lot worse. Tried to get x-rays (only got one) before Major freaked out and went to the bathroom everywhere and started panting real heavy. Sooooooo rather than upset him anymore, no more x-rays. The one x-ray he did get, was not of the main area of concern so basically we know nothing. He advised to start giving him 3/4 of a 75mg pill in the am and 3/4 of a 75 mg pill in the pm and if no improvement by Thursday, we go back, give him a mild sedative and do x-rays again.

Both boys are sacked out right now snoozing away  we were in the vets office for over 2 hours today  so boys and mommy are WIPED OUT!!!!!!

  12. black jack and major, stop scaring your mom!

I wish they would listen to you!!! They are wearing me out!!!!

Maybe Maj is seeing the attention Black Jack is getting and decided to get in on the action? :lol

Seriously, I do hope both continue to do well and that they are alright.

I wouldn't doubt it.. when Black Jack first got hurt, Major turned into a MONSTER and kept knocking into him, zipping around and cutting him off, running in the back yard.... you might be on to something!!! :unsure

Checking in and sending my love and prayers to you and the boys.

    Thanks :)

Black Jack is totally back to his old self again, Major is still limping but he's not acting like it's bothering him at all. He doesn't act like he's in any pain and has been acting totally normal other than an occasional limp. It's not as bad as it was and there is still no sign of swelling anywhere so just going to keep playing it by ear and hope it gets better on it's own.

Thanks for all the well wishes and checking in on us :) I really appreciate it!!!

  13. Major is still limping, but it's not as bad as it was. Just trying to keep him off his feet (he's sleeping in Mr. Sunbeam right now) so hopefully in a couple days he'll be back to normal. I'm gonna give it until Wednesday, and if there is no improvement.. off to the vet we go.

Black Jack's still doing great :) He's snuggled up next to me right now

  14. Maj was running!! :eek Hope he feels better too!

Yeah, you should have seen him, I thought I had the wrong dog in my yard :unsure I swear, I have had Major since May 2001, and I have NEVER EVER seen him run like that. :lol :lol It was kind of cool actually :colgate but feel bad that he hurt his leggie in the process :(

He's resting comfortably right now on his squashed up comforter on the floor (hmmm might sneak over there and try to trim his toenails...) Black Jack is passed out on the couch with all of his leggies hanging off the side and his tongue sticking out of his mouth
