September 23, 2003 - November 14, 2008
On what would have been your seventh birthday, I give thanks
to God for the special gift He gave us when He put you in our
lives. The second anniversary of your passing will not go unnoticed,
but I choose to celebrate your birthday by sharing memories of you.
You were so full of joy, that I cannot let sad thoughts or
memories of the tragedies that were a part of your life consume
me. Daily I remember you, so in some ways your birthday will
just be another of those days. But Thursday, your birthday,
I'll light a candle.
I'll sit for awhile and have myself a good cry.
I'll take the photo album down from the mantle and remember
each wonderful moment we had with you.
I'll take the collar and leash (that NancyB sent you) from the hooks
on the mantle where it hangs, and just for a moment, I'll close
my eyes and remember you wearing it.
I'll play with the dirty, torn up stuffed bull dog that was your
favorite toy.
I'll watch the two short videos we have of you.
And I'll read all the Remembrance posts from GT that I printed out.
George and I will spend some time reminiscing, I'm sure.
But then I'll blow out the candle, wipe my tears and put your stuff back
on the shelf. I can't have you back, but memories of you will never
leave me and for that, too, I will thank God.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Bear. But what wonderful memories you have of him! Thanks for sharing him with us. I know he will be missed terribly.

From my dh, George:
We met Bubba when he and Mabel came to spend the night.
I was struck at Bubba's size, but yet when it came to
resting his head, he found the smallest blanket to lay on.
It took so very little to make him happy.
He made one mistake- going near our angel Penny's food
bowl. Our dear, sweet Penny, who was the gentlest dog,
growled at Bubba, forcing him to move away from the
bowl.
What a sweet boy, you will never be forgotten.

Oh no! We have very fond memories of Bubba. We will miss him. RIP Bubba.

Let me start off by saying it's really hot/muggy here. I just looked at Tornado, lying on the bed with his head hanging down off it, and saw one side of his snout, near the nose, is really dark. He seems fine, but it looks weird. I've never seen this before, and we've had him 7 years.

Congratulations on adopting Ali. If it's any comfort, we adopted Finn about 6 weeks after losing Penny to lymphoma. We know she would understand and be happy that we gave a home to Finn.
-
I would advise to get another opinion, quickly. When our Penny was diagnosed with lymphoma, we were told (by Tufts) she would pass in 30 days if we did nothing. Personally, the odds wouldn't matter to me, if time was of the essence.

I'm so sorry.

Welcome to GT from Massachusetts. Danger looks to be on the small side.
Is he? How much does he weigh?

I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry. I know how much it hurts. Hold on to your memories.
Toe Nail Growing
in Health and Medical discussion
Posted · Edited by tornadosgirl
Finn had what we thought was a bad left shoulder muscle pull a few weeks ago. He had xrays so we could make sure he had no breaks or arthritis. Xrays looked great.
This morning I noticed that his left toe is growing at an odd angle to his foot. He had lost this toe nail about a year ago- we don't know exactly how or when, it was just missing one day.
We'll be taking him to the vet for a look at it, but I was wondering if anyone else had ever seen toe nails at an odd angle or know if anything can or should be done about it. I'm also wondering if it wasn't his shoulder after all, but pain from this toe nail angle.
I'm pasting photos of his left toe nail (the odd one) and the right toe nail (good one) for comparison.
