  1. I have had this happen also. I increased his feeding by giving him a snack of a handful of food around 6:30-7:00 pm.

Lou was waking up whining and barking which he only does when hungry. Make sure he goes out to potty before bedtime. You

also can try adding something to food like a little tuna. The food, which I also use, might not be sustaining him.

How much r u feeding during the day and how often? It is a trial and error thing, it will work out.

As far as going out at night, Lou wakes me up during the night daily to go out but that's just the way it is.

I rather that then an accident. Good luck, you will get plenty of help on this site.

  2. I know how you feel. Lou has the same problem. 1st thing is a competent trainer familiar with training greyhounds.

I use the "Watch me method". First I assure Lou that it is ok, I always carry treats in my pocket and perform the watch me when he sees

another dog that starts his behavior. It is not all dogs, justs a certain few. It takes patients and it is not full proof. Good luck and keep us posted.

  3. My senior, 12 yrs old, seems to be hungry frequently during the day. Plummer is on Iams Natural food and loves it. I do mix it with more protein, chicken chunks, he eats breakfast, snack around 12:00pm and then dinner at 4:00. However, because he is only 65lbs. when he gives me indication that he is hungry, I feed him.

Has anyone experienced this with their senior?

Could it be some sort of parasite? He is on low dose thyroid meds now.

I was also was thinking of adding Ensure to his food to make sure he is getting enough supplements.

I would him to fatten up a little but he doesn't gain weight.

    thanks

  4. I don't mean to sound blunt, but you may not believe in chiro care for you, but its the dog who is in pain and

chiro care may only be the lasting treatment. My Lou gets chiro treatment for a pinched nerve and it works.

I do have steroid on hand at first onset of symptoms, that does help with immediate pain. Then off to chiro

for treatment. Hope your pupper finds relief.

  5. For a couple of days now, Plummer has been throwing up in the morning.

He has done this in the past as it was phlegm, but now his food is coming up.

I just started including an acid reducer in his food, I will monitor him.

Has anybody experienced this and would a food for sensitive stomach work?

Plummer is 12 and is on Doxie for his infected toes. We just visited the vet and

he got a good report!!! Ugh!!!!

  6. Although Plummer, has not been officially diagnosed with SLO due to lack of tissue when biopsied,

he is receiving doxycycline 100mg- 3 in morning food and 3 in evening food. His back paws have dried up

completely and the front paw is hopefully on its way.

I keep toddler socks on consistently as he will lick his paws and we start all over again. Socks are changed daily. The

biggest problem for these guys is moisture, so socks are changed to avoid this.

Before I put the socks on I put foot powder on paws as I find this dries them more then any suave.

I use PAWZ booties, size large, over the socks when going out for walks on wet days. I do not keep PAWZ on a

they will make his paws sweat.

Plummer has been dealing with this condition since adopting him 4 years ago. I feel we finally have a control over the situation now, keeping paws crossed.

  7. Definitely mega alone training, I would try a regular T shirt if you think the Thundershirt is a source of comfort but may

become to heavy. Is your neighbor home during the day? If so maybe you can employ her to take your doggie

out. It sounds like in the PM he has had enough being home, can either of you go home for lunch?

Totally agree with a good long walk before you guys leave for the day. Keep us posted, this problem is usually

temporary and works its way out with time. Don't be discouraged, you are not bad doggie parents, its a period of

adjustment for you guys. Good luck.
