Alisha, I'm just seeing this. Such good loving advice from those who've been down this sad road .... I know you are so good about being positive about everything. Here's your big challenge! I positively know that you and Iceman will have more hugs and love to come, and that when it's time you'll know, and can give him the wonderful gift of freedom, and then continue to celebrate his life in your heart.

Adding my thoughts and chants for Penny and her mom!

He's doing what?? He's jumping up on his one hind leg?? What a nut! Don't let him watch those Lippezzaner (sp?) horses any more!!
So glad to hear he's doing so well, but I'm not surprised.
Give him a snuggle from me, 'kay?
-
I'm so sorry. Surgery is so risky, even in the best of circumstances. How frightening and tragic.

Sounds like you've got the logistics worked out. Wish I could meet you guys, but sort of the wrong time zone and all.

Elizabeth, how scary. I just saw this. Hope you never see it again, and Simon just toddles on like nothing ever happened.
I think (I wasn't there, but H saw it) that Happy had a minor event like this in the first year we had her, and she hasn't had one since.
Hugs to Simon!

Ah, I missed a few days.
I LOVED your description of Drake, his history, and your love for him just does shine through. He obviously does have good quality of life.
I bet you're right about the bandage just being not quite right. I hope he's resting alright tonight. Too bad that bit isn't staying closed in the back, but at least you kept it clean, and it will probably be fine in time.
I didn't get/forgot
that you had an appointment with Dr. Couto! That's great. That will be a relief, to get him to lay his expert hands and eyes on Drake finally. So, Tuesday with Dr. P, and then Friday with Dr. C.. Here's hoping both areas will have turned a corner for the better before they see him, and they'll both be saying, "Oh, well, there's nothing much to look at here."

That's gotta hurt!
Poor guy. I hope your vets can come up with something new and more effective, from this list or elsewhere, to get this thing closed up. Am I seeing some little openings above the main wound, too? Towards the stop pad?
I hope that back wound finishes healing up, with maybe a little more air circulation, and hopefully no smacking, scratching, bumping or rubbing .... Such a challenge!
How does he seem to be feeling, in general? Is he eating happily? Playing at all?
Hugs to you all!

I use a rinse on our four called C.E.T. Dental Rinse. I think chlorhexedine (sp?) is the main ingredient, which sound like what yours is, too. I also brush every day with electric brushes and CET toothpaste. It does help!
Glad your pup is home recuperating. Hope it's unremarkable, and NO recurrance!

I think you need to update your subject line and sub-line!

Oh my, and oh dear, and oh YEAY!!
What a ride, for sure. You're doing it, though. Hang on. Like you say, there's progress - GOOD progress! - and there will continue to be. You've been through the worst, already.
Rickiesmom made some good suggestions. Anything like a break look possible? An ex-pen?
We're thinking of you every day.

Sending calming, healing, restful thoughts your way.
-
All digits crossed, and chants humming for you and Rhemus.
-
Okay, then. I hope Dr. P is wrong about re-growth! Keeping all fingers, toes and eyes crossed that all goes well 'til you can see Dr. C.
Your updates are so good! Lots of detail, and very clear. I'm so impressed that you manage that along with everything else!
-
Can you get them to show you how do re-do the wrappings yourself?
The 17th seems so far away, but if Dr. Couto is comfortable putting it off that long, that's encouraging in itself. But, he's the one who was confident it wasn't cancer anyway. Augh! Well, hang in there!
How did the wrap-trip go today?
-
Okay!! Well, at least you have a sense that you won't need to amputate the front leg! That's good, right?
It's all still limbo-ish, but that's a good solid bit.
Hope you hear back on Monday. Man, I wouldn't want to be Dr. Couto! He's quite popular!
-
Ah! Good luck lining up some help. Funny how sometimes it's the simplest things that just don't even occur to us, huh?
I'm gritting my teeth along with you on this cliff-hanger about what to do! If wishing and willing something to happen worked, this would all be history.
(I exceeded my fair access policy limit yesterday, so I couldn't look at the pics. Hope it's not too gory!)
-
Keeping you all in my thoughts.
-
I love cosmos, too. Now I'll have sweet Cosmo in mind when I look at them, too!
-
Oh man. How frustrating and scary. At least he seems to feel pretty well, all things considered. That's good. With your schedule, and your DH taking off next month, even if you don't go forward with an amp, you've got your hands over full!! Is there help? Family? Neighbors? Adoption group friends? Anything??
-
Poor Sterling, falling on his owey!!
: Did it need more stitches?
MaryJane, what a lot of useful info!
Merann, what's this harness like? Can we see a picture?
Hugs and scritches going out from Blackburnia!
-
Just catching up, and boy! It sounds great!! Keep it up, Cosmo!!

Julio
in Remembrance
Just seeing this! What a shock! Rachel, I'm so sorry. Julio was one in a million.
:bighug

Of course he looks spiffy! And streamlined, with only 3 gangly legs to break that sleek line!
July 6th ... Okay, not too far off. We'll be there with you in spirit!!
