I have nothing useful to add, unfortunately but I will keep Memphis in my . He might have been mine, if he hadn't been so fond of the kitties . Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

That is good news! Fletcher did a course of Pred when he was first diagnosed with IBD. He was weaned off, and hasn't needed it again. Once you get things under control, IBD is quite managable.

Sugar had stress induced hot spots when I first got her, made worse because she would not leave them alone. She was checked by a dermatologist, and had one spot that was caused by a fungus (I think, its been 4 yrs ). For the rest, the only thing that stops her from licking is EMT gel.

You are doing everything you can for him I hope he beats the odds, but I can understand your concerns about the fireworks. I would think they would be very stressful for him.
for some good time with Link

I was just at a lecture on canine heart disease earlier today. He said, in brief, there are medications that can improve the quality of life, and sometimes extend it, but not for very long. Depending on how bad it is, 6-9 months is the AVERAGE, I caped that because there are some dogs that live longer. He did mention a new drug, Pimobendan (Vetmedin), that has recently been approved for dogs, but is not approved for humans. You might want to ask your cardio vet about that.

What amazing progress he's made! He looks like he doesn't mind it at all
I just love reading his story, and Penny's and Jane's. It is so heartening to see these dogs come back from such serious conditions!
