Big hugs to you Mary Jo....

Oh Mary Jo...I am so sorry that you are going through this.... for you and Spud...

My vet also suggests yearly vaccinations which I do not choose to do but has never connected that to doing a dental. I am on a three year cycle with the DHLPP.

Poor you and Passion....sorry she is having that problem....
Rascal lost control of his bladder and was on Proin for years. It worked well for him for a long time.....

I use Springtime as well....I just break them into small pieces and mix in with their food....won't eat them straight but don't mind them in food....

One question....did you request this dog or was this a dog the group suggested?
As a first time dog owner I got a 2 yo who never raced and was less than secure. Regardless of his issues...I ended up returning him and gave it about a month and went back to adopt and almost 5 yo who was so much better suited for me and my life. He was the love of my life....but I think for people in your situation you might be better off with an older dog.

Jen....I would let it work its way out....unfortunately that may be in the middle of night...
Rascal, my first greyhound, ate everything and anything. He had a strong gut and everything came out okay.
Interested what the ER vet thinks...

I have two Chihuahua mixes who are flat coated so not the look of a poodle...one is 9lb and the other 14....my greyhounds have never had any issues with them. Occasionally it has turned into a bark fest in the yard with the littlest one barking at my greyhound Dylan. Then Dylan barks back at him but never like prey. I do not allow the little ones out in the yard with other greyhounds that come to the house.
When my boy Bounty got sick several years ago and I had just gotten Pixie, my fist chi mix, and she was a constant by his side as his cancer got very bad, very quickly. She really loved him.

Many, Many good thoughts and prayers for you....
So terrifying for you....

Oh Kari...so sorry for you and Thunder!

She is freaking adorable as I may have mentioned before!
And she reminds me of a little brindle colored Mollie which is why I have been cheering for her so much. Mollie is so connected to me in a way that only Rascal was...I hope the same for and Skye.

I buy little milk bones
Alton Brown makes jerky with clean a/c filters and a box fan. You could do that on your deck
I came here just to see your response!!
You know Jen's dogs can lose their minds if they eat things other than raw meat!!

Many good thoughts...
I have used chiro and acupuncture with my dogs....really amazing how much it can help the older ones...

Nichole...
I have a really good friend that has a collie with it. She does amazingly well. She knows her environment and navigates it well. When they travel they leave her at home but that is really the only thing they have worried about. She still can find a tiny piece of food in the house with her nose!! She does seem to still see shadows but the vet believes she is close to completely blind.

I went through FCE with my first, Rascal. We did all the tests and pred and some of his functionality came back and some of it didn't. In his case the mobility all came back but he never regained control of his bowel control and the urinary control got weaker with age. After a week and a half at a university hospital my local vet saw him. The first thing he said is that it could get better but I should consider if I could handle him the way he was because it might not get any better. It never really did improve after a few weeks.
We did accupuncture and it really did help but whenever we tried to wean down on the visits his control got worse. It never bothered him really and he lived to be 12 1/2 and this happened when he was 7.
