  1. I'm not a vet so I can't diagnose. Just don't jump to conclusions as far as Cancer. Maybe he is having a little irritable bowel. Anything at all change? Grass eating or treats?

I use pumpkin and green tripe for stomach issues, works wonders.

Try some boiled burger or chicken and rice for a couple of days.

    Keep us informed!

  2. Our lurcher Pru was asleep in our room and woke my partner up as she was massivley galloping (not normal for her) in her sleep with her legs kicking the metal radiator. I was downstairs and came up as sounded like chaos.

She then started foaming at the mouth and was unresponsive for what was probably only 2 minutes but seemed longer. As she started to come around she was panting wildly and still quite unresponsive.

It does sound like a seizure, I've been through it with one of my dogs. Please be aware that POPPY SEEDS can be toxic to dogs. Hopefully that was the reason and she won't have anymore.

She then started wandering around the room looking really disoriented as if she didn't know were she was and tripping over stuff.

DBF called our vets as Pru was coming around and they advised that it sounded like a seizure and to bring her in once they open in 3 hr's time.

She's dozed off now, but we're quite shook up & brought back horrible memories of losing Hector.

Probably unconnected but on Sunday morning she donated blood then later that afternoon broke into the kitchen scoffed a load of kibble, half a poppy seeded baguette and I think a pigs ear and few chicken feet. Apart from being sleepy & looking bit sicky she was fine, the last time she pigged & ate 3days worth of kibble the vet didn't make her sick & we just had to keep an eye on her. On Monday unsurprisingly she had terrible wind and touch of dire rear, but she was back to normal tuesday with firm poops.

sorry, my response was put in the middle of your statement. The above is what I wanted you to read.

  3. My heart goes out to you and Miss Echo. I would speak to someone on the link Rickiesmom provided. They may know a vet familiar with this or

help a vet out with info.

I lived in Tucson in the 80s and my husband contracted Valley Fever. He was out of work for a month, lost a lot of weight but pulled through

fine with antibiotics. I did not know how insidious this could be. Hope you and Miss Echo get good news soon.

  4. As Ruby has never really had much socialisation with other dogs it is hard to tell how she might react as there are so many variables. She may not object to a small dog, many greys are just fine with them, some are fine with them on leash but not off, shemay be territorial of her home, which is quite normal but the degree varies from dog to dog.

I think this is an excellent opportunity for you to learn a bit more about Ruby, and perhaps if things go well, for Ruby to learn too. As you are fully aware it is a situation that needs careful handling. It may be better for the two dogs to meet for the first time somewhere "neutral", or at least for Ruby as all will be new for the visitor. Wear a muzzle of course, but try to gauge reaction and let them meet without too much fuss, if Ruby's reaction is bad then you have your answer, in my experience with greys what you see is what you get they're not sneaky.

If things go well initially then you can head home and re-assess the situation.

All of my Greys have been happy to welcome well mannered dogs of all shapes and sizes into their home, even if they needed a bit of persuasion to begin with! Good luck, and let us know how it goes. If nothing else, as I said before it will be a useful learning experience.

I agree that they should meet on neutral ground first. If it doesn't work out does your friend have a crate for the Chihuahua? You want to be able to enjoy your time with your best friend and not worry.
  5. It may be that he is still a little spooked from the storms you had and finds comfort in the closet. I think you did the right thing by putting Georges bed in there. Can you have another bed next to your bed to give him an option?

Charlie has been with me for a little more than two yrs . On rare occasions he will still run downstairs and lay at the bottom for no apparent reason. He seems to have been startled by something, maybe a dream. He comes upstairs after I call him, sometimes I have to get him, and cuddles and is fine.

Give it some time, 2 months isn't a long time and he may just be extra sensitive like my boy.

Congrats btw, Greys are wonderful dogs!

  6. It sounds to me that CJ has a wonderful life. With you home and CJ being able to run outside anytime AND with a turkey neck!. A lot of dogs aren't that fortunate. I hope you will stop feeling guilty but I know how that goes. I sometimes think I don't do enough but then logic takes over. Depending on if you can afford it, could you have someone you trust walk CJ on occasion when you can't?

  7. I agree, it has to come off. Hope this link works, nope it didn't, Wondercide, natural flea and tick repellent if you don't use Frontline or something like it. I just bought some but haven't used it yet. Someone I work with said it killed a tick on contact so maybe a dab of this on the tick for the future?

  8. My Charlie never comes into the bathroom which I always attributed it to being a narrow entryway. I wish I had an answer. I will be following your post and hope someone has some ideas for you. I will say that when I 1st adopted Charlie 2 yrs ago it took quite awhile to get him into my house the 1st day, he also does not like getting into the car. Other than that he is calm but new things can cause a little anxiety.

  9. I use Brampton Simple Solution washable cloth diapers for my 60lb German Shepherd size large. I tried to copy and paste an image for you but no luck. They have a hole for the tail and at the waist is Velcro which makes it adjustable. I use disposable pads in the diaper that are for ppl with incontinence. That way I don't have to wash the diaper every day. They are pricey but at least reuseable. They have the diapers for females and male wraps for males. She doesn't mind wearing it at all, she told me that lol Besides we call it her bikini not her diaper to keep her dignity intact.

  10. Low phosphorus is the key and high quality protein. High quality protein isn't typically found in prescription diets. Dogaware.com has informative articles on this and many other topics. There is a search button on the site which will bring you to what you are looking for. A lot of people have already posted great advice so I'm just reiterating.
