  1. This morning and afternoon it was like nothing ever happened. She was out running like nothing ever happend. She was fine. I think she slipped on the ice too and got spooked. She got back in the house and was right back to running, barking and bossing the boys around. I promise you it freaked me out more than her. :):hehe The girl is truly bombproof...even when she's upset.

  2. My Molly is absolutely bombproof. In 2 years I have yet to find anything that scares her, shakes her or freaks her out. Tonight I let the dogs out and she didn't come in when I called, not even with the the squeeker (to which she always responds). I went out to get her and found her hudled in the corner behind the shed absolutely FROZEN and shaken. She refused to move. I checked her over quickly and didn't see anything noticeable. I thought maybe she felt trapped because there's a little ice on one side. I walked her back and got her back on the trail and she still refused to move. I walked her back into the house and she was still a little shaken. I blocked off the other 2 and thoroughly checked her over; no noticeable anything-cuts, owies or anything. We snuggled and I gave her a piece of cheese which she happily took. I let her back in with the other 2 and she's fine.

    So, any ideas what happened?

  3. Ok, to make this more interesting I took in an am urine test and there was no glucose. I'm waiting for a call from the vet to discuss all this. I'm guessing the vet is going to say she's not concerned. She said yesterday there can be glucose in the urine as a result of stress. The only one worried yesterday was ME (I have Jewish Mother Syndrome :hehe:hehe ). My guess is we're just going to be cognizant of all of this, wait for the outside blood results, keep an eye on things and go from there. She wasn't calling it high blood pressure at this point either. Thanks for all your advice and calming words.

  4. To be honest the only one worried is me and yes, I mean Falconi. The vet was clear the circumstances weren't ideal and Greys run high. She was very funny, she told me Greys are "special" and literature is coming out daily about just how "special" they are. :) She said since they're showing no other signs of being I'll other than glucose in the urine and high bp not to worry. I'm bringing in an am urine sample to compare and she's sending out blood work to get more exact readings.

  5. I took Molly for, what I thought was a simple bladder infection or possible SBS (Spoiled Brat Syndrome ), and an hour later we walked out with bloodwork, blood pressure (it's HIGH) and and no clear diagnosis but a very upset doggie mama.

The bigger issue is what she may have (Falcone Syndrome) could be inherited and I have littermates. Her brother has a bladder infection right now...even worse.

The good news is they're both gaining weight (not losing), in good health, eating, drinking, etc and showing no signs of being ill. The bad news is I'm a Jewish mama who worries.

In other news, the vet spent a ton of time talking and explaining things, Molly had VERY hight blood pressure (220) but they're seeing that more and more in Greys. She's going to research, apparently there's some thought it might be a "grey" thing, like RBC count.

Anyone have any thoughts, words of wisdom, etc?

  6. Both my houndies and my foster went for yearly blood work as part of being blood donors and all 3 came back with high creatin levels. I know high RBC levels are normal for Greys but I'm unsure about creatin. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

    TIA.

  7. Mason's dental went fine. Fortunately no extractions were necessary. He's home resting. A urine sample (taken because of wonky bloodwork) showed a minor bladder infection. Yes, I do feel horrible. I had no idea anything was wrong. :( He's on antibiotics. Thank you for all your great advice, good thoughts and well wishes. It certainly helped.

  8. I noticed the other day that one of Mason's teeth has turned brown...the whole tooth. He's eating, drinking, peeing, pooping and playing tug-of-war with Molly and doesn't seem to be in noticeable pain but of course I have made a vet appointment.

So, what could I be looking at here? Infection? Tooth extraction? I'm (of course) worried.

    TIA--GG (and Mason)

  9. Anyone know where I can buy/borrow muzzles for a couple of days in the St. Louis area? I forgot the Twin Terrors' muzzles at home and nothing can come of that.

    TIA!!

GreyhoundGirl, Molly and Mason (they don't really say thank you)

If prefer to buy them if someone sells them for their group. :)

  10. I really like Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach and the dogs did really well with it. Then Mason turned his nose up at it. :( I'm actually thinking about trying it again because I'm tired of paying Fromm's prices and the poop is terrible. But, since I'm not currently scooping poop it's not a problem :hehe I am, however, scared to go out and scoop :hehe

  11. The first time I gave Molly and Mason turkey necks I heard the bones crack and posted on Greytalk that I killed my dogs. :hehe:hehe I was assured that I did NOT kill them. The hounds LOVE them. I don't give them that often and they only get them outside (so not in the winter) but they enjoy them when they get them. They haven't had diarrhea from them.
