I'm very sorry to hear about Pal
-
It REALLY REALLY depends on the food too. I have Bella on one type of food, and she was seriously fine on only 1 cup a day...not skinny at all, and not hungry! Then I changed it and she is now on 3 cups and maintaining the same weight.

Sweet Bijou, I am thinking about you and your your daddyman and whole family

Woops, sorry to bring this to the top...I got the info from Brie! A friends dog is having the exact same symptoms. Doolin is OK! THis thread is from the winter!
-
Brie, I know of a doggie that is having the exact same symptoms...what was the treatment plan and official diagnoses with Doolin?

Sending lots of prayers...keep us posted.

I use an oatmeal shampoo...but I heard not to wash her too much, I do once every 3ish months, should I do more?
She doesn't sunbathe...at all, just walkies if it's not too hot out. Maybe since it's been so sunny here she's turned brown?
-
Yup, another coat question. No matter how much salmon oil, sardines, tuna I feed, Bella's coat is always dandruffy and has more of a brown tint to it. I brush once a week, should I be brushing more? Bella is on Blue Buffalo and doing well, except she still looks like she's fresh off the track, coat wise. Thoughts?

Gross alert: Bella had one on her head, I popped it...yup, not afraid to admit that! lol

Your love for Max is so evident...all your pics of him on facebook, all your greyhound love...it's clear he was very very loved.

What Jayne's momma said.
Perhaps, if he barking, have a treat ready...and say quiet, while gently holding his mouth closed. When he stops, treat. OR something along those lines...I'm not a trainer.

I believe today is the day for Ikers dental (I may be wrong, bad at remembering dates! lol), we are thinking about you Iker, and your momma. Momma, fill us in when you can please.

I thought I'd share my experience with Bella and pain meds, it might help a few.
Last month Bella had a neck issue, she was put on Metacam...and at that time she stopped drinking water, completely. She drank perfectly fine before. I was worried about her not drinking, and at the time didn't link it to the Metacam. After a few days, I decided to go to the vet...we gave her pepcid, since the vet thought her stomach might hurt from the metacam, hence why she wouldn't drink. The next day after giving her pepcid, she was back to drinking water like she use to!!
So there's my tip, if your grey won't eat/drink and is on meds...try some pepcid (I am not a vet, this is just my experience...please don't sue me! lol)

Start from the basics, find a different word...maybe "let's go!", something that the general public might use, incase he'd ever get lost. Then start with on leash, happy voice, word, treat. Work your way up to a longer leash.
Also, maybe try this outside on grass (last poster mentioned he could have fallen at some point).
-
When you show her the leash, give her a yummy yummy treat, then she'll be "oh, leash means I get a yummy treat".
This will only work if she's taking treats. I might try just leaving the leash laying on the floor in front of her crate for a while. See if that helps first. Start far away and gradually moveit closer as she becomes confortable.
True indeed. I like the leash idea...maybe to add to the OP, put treats near the leash.

Many good thoughts your way. If there is a greyhound near by (one with a great appitite), have him/her come over around dinner time. My Bella will eat anything like a horse when she see's another greyhound eating. I believe there are a couple Oregon adoption groups on facebook, perhaps if you post up there someone will be able to bring their greyhound over?

Was he doing this?
If so, sounds like he was trying to play with you

Sending good thoughts! Keep us posted ok?

My lovely Lea (PTL Lea http://www.greyhound...ear=&birthland=) is related to HB's Commander, and she was a brood mama prior to retiring. Is in perfect health so far, aside from the occasional corn. I can understand your need to make sense of something that seems senseless.
OMG you have LARRY'S MOTHER!!!!!!!! http://greyhound-dat...year==
he is PTL LaRoach!!!!!!
WOOOOO Hooooo! You found a MOTHER on GT! I looooove connections!
Note to others, add at least a link in your signature to your greyhounds greyhound-data.com racing page! Or a name!

I've encountered a lose dog before, and I torn the owner of the dog a new hole...you won't see that dog off leash in a residential area ever again I am the nastiest person on the planet when a lose dog comes charging towards us. Usually a big yell "NO!" will stop a dog, and stand your ground, feet firm make yourself look scary!

Bella had a pencil sized stick pierce through her webbing a few months ago, yes...I had to literally pull it out. I washed it in Epsom salt twice a day, and put neospoirn on it...it healed beautifully! So don't panic yet

And it's 100% lodged right in?
