  1. Thanks everyone. The vet said it was a fungus infection. When he came home with me he was allergic to whatever was in his food. I switched him to Dick Van Patten's Bison and Potato and his big D stopped immediately. His coat has also imporved a lot. The Bison and Potato is one protein. Who checks for allergies..the vet??

  2. Sorry, my question is: is it normal for the greys to have ear infections and is this the best medicine for it? This was the first time I have used this vet, so I have no relationship with her. Do other grey owners flush the ears out weekly? Thanks so much for the information.

  3. The vet told me today that the reason my grey has ear infections is because he has food allergys. Said that I would have to flush his ears three times a week on maintanence. She took a Q-tip and really pushed it down his ear for a sample..he screamed. She told me to flush them out and use Monetamax once a day (8 drops). Please e-mail me at Walliered@aol.com as I can never find your posts once I leave the sight. Thanks so much.

  4. My grey came right from the tracts. The adopton agency I used do not believe in foster homes..the grey only has to get used to one new set of rules and not two..makes sence to me. The first couple of weeks were both funny and a little scarey. For example: the first time he saw a TV on I cracked up, but stairs were very scarey for him..just patience and love got him through all of it and after 4 months he is plain wonderful..

  5. Thanks for all of the help! I actually let him have the run of the house yesterday for about 3 hours with no problems. And last night I let him sleep in the living room rather than baby gate him into my bedroom. Again no problems..while I am still a little nervous, I will continue to not put him back in the crate. Thanks again!!

  6. My dog used to just lie in his crate..Not anymore. He is bending the metal frame. I am not strong to this myself, but he is. I tried putting his muzzle on him, but now he goes nutty when it is on..constantly rubbing it against something. Getting him to go into the crate is another battle..I have to physically push him (80Lbs) in to it. I give him a treat..most of the time it is not eaten..Just a lot of slobber and the wire bending..Pleae help.

  7. Thanks everyone. I actually had bought one of the coats a few days ago. I didn't know they could be made for little or nothing. I also put a call into the vet today and she said to try him on 50mg of Benedryl. If 50mg didn't help, to up it to 75mg. I will also try the music and the dryer sheet. Again, thanks.

  8. I think everyone knows I am a new grey owner (3 months). Last night we had a very bad thunderstorm that lasted for several hours. He shook so bad his tags were ringing and he was slobbering and panting very badly. I tried putting him in a room with now windows..no help. He also had to go to the bathroom really bad, but of course would not go outside. He just stood in the middle of the room shaking. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  9. I have had my male grey about 2 1/2 months now. For the most part he is easy going, but I have noticed in the last several weeks that he is getting very protective of me. If we are doing our walks and he sees someone (usually a male) a block away he will start barking and jumping and tries to position himself in front of me. No matter how much I try to correct him, he will not let up until the person is out of sight. He also is extremely pig headed about anything in his mouth. I am afrail someone is going to get hurt...probably me.
