  1. My vet started out sedating both of my dogs for hulling, but had a change of heart and tried it with no sedating. It worked just fine, though I have to give my big male Tramadol 2 hours before taking him in. That seems to just take the edge off of his nerves. It should be interesting to see if the Galgo will have corns.

  2. I mix a little water in the kibble. I mix mine with 1/2 raw (no bones) I change around the protein so allergies don't have a chance of starting. Try putting little bits of canned fish, potted meat, tuna, cottage cheese. Be careful on what you are not supposed to give them and I know you can find that list on the computer. I always rinse canned vegetables because of the salt content. I buy nothing that was made in China. Raw turkey necks may be something you can give them a couple of times a week instead of regular kibble. That is yard food!!! LOL

  3. I tried pulling out all of the grass and replacing it with small stones..they felt OK to my feet, but not to dogs…so, replaced stones with pine straw. They love the straw, but it has to be replaced every couple of months and that can get pricey..anyway, the back yard is just a mess and I have resigned myself to just live with it. LOL

  4. Dog is very new in your home. He has never been alone in his life. I think someone shared info about this in another thread. I would sleep downstairs with him until he learned to climb the stairs. It will not take him long. Put the cat in the bathroom with the door closed.

When I first got a hound, I thought he needed to sleep in his crate and I would not have it in my room because I thought it was ugly. He cried most of the night. Moved the crate to my room. A couple of days later I put up a baby gate and left crate door open. That worked for me. He has had the run of the house for years with no problems. Good luck.

  5. I believe that Greyhounds have mostly been around other Greyhounds and may not be friendly to other breeds. He is brand-new in your house so I would just give him time (lots of it). Let him come to you and do not try to pet him on his head..just a little ear scratching may be all that he needs now. It could be that his last owner could not spend much time with him because of being ill..I would not discourage growling as it is their way of showing displeasure. If you stop him from growling the next thing could be a snap. Just make sure he has a very soft place to lay and that it is also quite. He will come around at his own pace. Does anyone on FB have that story about being "a new greyhound in a home?" Maybe it could be posted here for ms3569.

  6. My Vet said all of Lady's blood work came back fine. Then she said one figure was a little high, but that could be because of a lot of exercise. I told her we walked an hour or so a day. Anyone know what she is talking about? I will have to call her office tomorrow and ask someone.

  7. I am taking Lady and DaVid in tomorrow for corn hulling. While I am there I would like to have blood work done on her. It is time for her yearly physical, though my Vet checks her out every time she is there. What kind of blood work should I ask her to do? She is 9 1/2 years old. Thanks
