  1. Thanks for the consideration, kind sir. I'll give it a whirl once you've had adequate time to get the kinks out. Shockingly, the "full blown" version is working pretty well for me this AyEm; must be a fluke caused by sunspots or another strange phenomenon of nature! Annie Lambert
  2. PLEASE, please tell me that the Lo-fi version will come back! I'm one of a miniscule segment of the population relegated to dial-up in a rural area. No broadband is available, except to fork over big $$$$ for satellite internet, which I can't justify. Given the unreliability of satellite TV (when there's thunder, lightening or even just heavy rain and/or snow, reception is non-existent!), I have a hard time believing satellite internet would be any better! At least Lo-fi allows me to read the posts and see the pictures without pulling my hair out! Miss seeing everyone's neat signatures and the info on the left-side (to which I treat myself when in civilization at the dayjob broadband), but the Lo-fi version is quite useable and most appreciated. Will it return? Pretty please? Annie Lambert Benton (aka Timbuktu), Kansas (NE of Wichita)
  3. Ah, Brenda! Welcome to the world of "scavenger" dogs! Over the years, we've had hounds that caught mice, birds, squirrels and the occasional alley cat. Somebody tried a toad once - spit it out pretty fast - think it pee'd in the dog's mouth! The current foster, Tango, has a developed a taste for locusts - those winged things that live in the trees and go buzz-buzz-buzz. When they hit the ground, she's ready to pounce. One lunge, one bite - crunch, crunch! If you read back thru the various threads on this board, I think you'll find that most greyhounds seem to have cast-iron stomachs - thank goodness! Hugs and scritches for your new gal and Rusty, too! Annie Lambert
  4. The Winslow Diary started a couple of years before I joined GT, but I fondly remember following and giggling with glee at the "poop-bag in the tree" saga. Winslow most definitely touched many, many hearts, albeit from a distance. I, too, concur with the feeling that these wonderful dogs stay only as long as they need to, rather than as long as we want them to. Wish that it were otherwise, but as one who has lost numerous greys over the 16+ years of being addicted, rest assured that the memories will remain in your minds and hearts forever. We love, we lose, and in time, we find we can love once again. Such is the continuous cycle of life...don't believe I'd want it any other way. May the pain of his departure to the Bridge soon be tempered by the sweet memories you have of Winslow's wonderful life in your loving home. Peace be with you and yours... 5. What an elegant and beautiful lady! She was obviously well-loved and cherished by your family. Sorry I never had a chance to meet her; perhaps one of these days, timing will be such that our paths will actually cross. May the pain of her departure soon be tempered by those sweet memories of her life... Annie Lambert Benton (Wichita area), Kansas
  6. moonpuppy, I just happen to be the "member" in the "country" that Pabozem mentioned earlier in this thread; the person that has the fenced-in acreage and the greyhound get-togethers for Circle of Friends. I'd love to make your acquaintance and meet Elvis. The two of you would be more than welcome at the next playdate, which is scheduled to take place on March 13th after the Delano District St. Patrick's parade in Wichita. I have a very soft spot for black dogs. Of the baker's dozen greyhounds that currently own me and my DH, five are beautiful black. Perhaps you'll be able to join us this Saturday at Spear's; if not, I do hope our paths will cross in the future. Annie Lambert
