Meet with the Vet. No signs of anything in the abdomen or lungs. Only possible bronchitis from the cold. Waiting for a final report from the radiologist but looks good. Upping her food for a few weeks to see if weight increases. If not, next step will be ultrasounds of varies organs. All blood work good.

    Thanks for reading.

So far, so good. :goodluck  That’s good news. Keep us posted.

  2. This brings back a nightmare for me. In July, we dropped a seemly healthy, 4 year old, Lola off for boarding at our usual, trusted dog-sitter. Upon our return 10 days later, Lola appeared subdued and had lost a significant amount of weight. The sitter said she had been fine during her stay. We immediately took her to the vet.e vet Bloodwork was alarming as was abdominal ultrasound.  Vet wanted to keep Lola overnight on fluids and observation. She lasted 2 hours. Thrombosis. I don’t blame the sitter or the vet at all. Sometimes, bad stuff just happens.

Upon adopting my new girl, Jenny, I insisted on a complete K9-type check up as police and military dogs undergo. I will also insist on yearly, complete bloodwork to catch any incipient disease or disorder.

I believe I did a disservice to Lola by assuming she was healthy because of her appearance and youth.

I pray your pup will be fine.

Happy birthday Jenny! Since it’s already ‘Spoil your hound day’ does she get a double helping of being spoilt?

Absotively!  Fresh liver along with her kibble for dinner and a ginormous bully stick for desert. We’re off to the park for walkies in a bit, too.

Which Mammoth bed do you have, LaFlaca?  Size, shape, orthopedic, cover material, etc.????

Large size works well for a Greyhound.  Canvas cover for sure. Tried a ‘pretty’ one made from some other material and my mad nester, Wendy, tore right through it. Orthopedic. Donut shape is great for dogs who curl up to sleep. Oblong works for both curlers and hounds who like to stretch out or roach at bedtime.

The name "Wendy" must construe a gift of ease.  We met another couple when we picked up Bette who adopted their Wendy a couple of weeks ago.  She is two, and they said she had been pretty much a perfect little angel since they brought her home.

Oddly, her adoption kennel name had been ‘Crazy Wendy’!  She was a little firecracker ( 48 lbs. racing weight) but never gave us a moment’s trouble.

  6. We adopted Jenny in July of this year. She'll be two on November 24th and the youngest Greyhound we've had. Our first, Wendy, was already two when we adopted her. Our Lola was 4 when she came home. Wendy raced a bit, Lola not at all, and Jenny a bit. To be honest, I don't she a huge difference as far as behavior.  Wendy was the poster dog for Greyhound adoption; a Mary Poppins, if you will - practically perfect in every way.  Lola, the oldest of the bunch, was the most challenging; hard to house break and with severe separation anxiety. Jenny, the youngest, has been challenging to house break and had mild separation anxiety. All three girls were about equally energetic, happy, sweet and goofy. Jenny has been a bit destructive, chewing on the edge of furniture, eating one panel of the vertical blinds and stealing my glasses (I keep them out of reach now!) but has since adjusted well.

I really think that each dog is a world unto itself, each with his/her own temperament and personality.  Hope your pup is a good match!

This morning on our normal walk (about 15 minutes), a few houses from mine my boy stopped - which he does sometimes - and sat, which as a greyhound, he NEVER does.  I wonder if he pulled a muscle or something. I was able to get him home by squealing “cmon boy...COOKIE!” but just barely. He’d walk four or five steps then stop and sit again. He came in, drank a bunch or water and laid down, which he always does.  He does not appear to be in any pain and is acting normal. One thing worth noting, maybe, I jogged with him for maybe 30 steps a bit before he did this. I also do this with him sometimes, but he has never done this before. I’m worried about him.

Sounds like maybe he over-heated.  My first Grey, Wendy, would do this.
