A few years ago there were people wrecking havoc on G-D. Pedigrees were being changed for one and people were spending a lot of time correcting this along with other problems. Some people having multiple identities was another. The owners of G-D decided people were going to have to get verified by sending them a form of identification like your license. While some people objected to this that is the way it is.
I think, but am not positive, if you aren't verified you can still see everything on G-D, but can't post in the forum.
Makes perfect sense. Saints paying for sinners. <sigh>

Try again in the morning as sometimes it is just the website having a problem. If you still can't login let me know and I will notify them. Are you verified?
Dick
I tried again to get a new password although I don't understand why it won't take my usual one. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes.
What does being verified mean?
Still no response for a new email. Still cannot login. However, I can do a dog search and was able to see what you added to my girls' pages. Weird.

I'm unable to login to GD. It says - Sorry, but I can find no account with this credentials!.
I've requested a new password twice but get no answer. Any tips?

Hi, Dick. Thank you for all you do for us and our hounds.
Please add the date of death for my girl Wendy (Lost Footing) - 08/18/17 with the words: Forever in our hearts. "I am yours you are mine".
And for AMF Won't Forget, please add adopters' names - Irene & Jorge Martinez - and pet name Lola.
Thank you!

This dog looks a lot like my Lola. She had similar white markings when we got her at 2 years old.
I wonder if she’s got Molotov in her bloodline? Going to check on that.

In the spirit of female equality, I must report that dear Eve not only caught and ate flies, she ate SLUGS. We had a don't-ask-don't-tell policy on that last one.
Why for the protein content, of course!
My Wendy caught and ate flies. Lola ate a bee and lived to tell the story. And snails....ooooo....crunchy.

Yep

With Wendy, I kept part of her kennel nickname, Crazy Wendy. it seemed to fit - the Wendy part, not so much the Crazy part! Lola was called Frozen at the kennel. They both learned their names very quickly with the help of treats. Say the name - treat when they look at you - repeat, repeat......

Maybe there should be a Gross and Disgusting topic?

Thanks for sharing! This is dangerous for me as I have a severe collar/lead addiction!

I don't know the official, veterinary answer to this question. I have always rotated my dogs' food, intuitively I guess. What I do is buy a 12 -15 lbs. bag of kibble and as that bag is almost empty I buy another with a different protein source. Since I always add canned food to the kibble, I buy as many different protein sources as I can and rotate those. I also feed organ meats, sardines canned in water and canned mackerel. In short, as varied a diet as possible.

That's something I never gave a thought to. I've had jugs of that stuff for years. Maybe contact the company?

Fromm's response to the investigation: https://frommfamily.com/about/question-and-answer/fda-dcm/fda-dcm/
Sweep's due for her annual this month, and barring any issues, I will keep her on Fromm Classic Adult. It's the cheapest of their options, it's not grain-free, and it has none of the concerning ingredients like lentils and potatoes that the more expensive lines from Fromm do. Sweep does well on it and has not gotten tired of it after years eating it. And I appreciate the accountability and transparency from the company.
I feed Lola Fromm products, rotating among the different 'flavors'. Thanks for posting the company's response to the DCM issue.

I've had one of our Mammoth bed for about 12 years now. It has survived two ferocious nesters. We have the ones with the canvas covers.

You do know that Dog Food Advisor is run by a dentist whose only credential is "a passion for canine nutrition"? And that makes money purely on people clicking on and buying the things they recommend? Have you checked out all of their cover-your-a$$ statements? https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/disclaimer-and-disclosure/
Not exactly the source I'm going to be relying on for information about this serious issue. Sites like that are part of the reason so many people got sucked into the grain-free trend in the first place.
Holy cow! I did not know that! Thanks for the heads up.

I've always rotated my dogs' food, both kibble and canned, adding in organ meats, sardines and mackerel on a regular basis. Wondering if, barring food sensitivities, that might be the way to go.

I highly suggest buying and reading this booklet: https://www.patriciamcconnell.com/store/I-ll-Be-Home-Soon.html
It is the absolute best method I have found to train an anxious dog to be alone at home. When I used the bathroom, my Lola would literally scream and leap at the bathroom door. She destroyed her crate and bloodied her mouth in the process. Baby gates could not contain her in any area of the house. Patience, intense and consistent training using the methods described in this pamphlet worked like a charm.
It's worth keeping in mind that Spirit has been home for an extremely short time. He's still getting used to his strange, new life.
Good luck!

Zoom Groom is fabulous for removing dead fur followed by a good brushing with an equine, soft bristle finishing brush for a super shiny coat.

They do have most of the researched resources on an outside site - https://taurinedcm.org/taurine_dcm_pdfs/
The group is great, in some ways, but also demonstrates some of the reasons people are social media averse (for good reason!) Get 70K people together in one group, and there's bound to be a bit of drama, but it is pretty well moderated. If you need/like the emotional testimonials (it's tragic how many there are) then it'd be good to check the group out.
Thanks for this link. I've bookmarked it. I'm going to check out FB, as well. I can always opt out if I want to.

And just get 'er done all at once! Not three or four little poops 5 minutes apart different spots in the yard! And don't tease me by squatting, changing your mind, and then starting the process all over again. It's 105F out here and the mosquitos are the size of aircraft carriers.
