  1. Greyt photos! What a good looking bunch. Welcome!
  2. Yeah, what great eyes and love that dark nose!
  3. I'd call the vet and see what they say. Infections can become quite painful if not treated.
  4. Agreed. And well said. In theory, if an affordable solution were available with relatively little negative impact on my fur-child I would pay whatever I could afford to make her better. Unfortunately, we have to make hard decisions sometimes based on the relality of our individual situations. When I look back at life one day I hope I'll never say, "wow that proceedure was expensive", I'd rather say "she was a great dog and I'm lucky to have spent so much time with her".
  5. Hooray to forever homes! She is adorable.
  6. Too cute! What a greyt name for such a beautiful dog!
  7. Congratulations!! Um,... I don't think you have enough toys for them . JK. It's looks like Disneyland for dogs! Good to see they have such a greyt home!
  8. [/img] Here is Lily after only 3 days at her new house. [/img] This is Lily in her homemade snowsuit. She hates the cold weather and has taken up hiding when she sees us reaching for her snowsuit! [/img] And her favourite sleeping spot in the living room. She can see everything, even those scary cats.... [/img]
  9. OK, Here is the photo of Lily. I hope this works... http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii157/c...pg?t=1197044755 Looks like I need to look further into getting the photo to show on the posting instead of the link...
  10. **UPDATE** Lily (the dog formerly known as Zippy) has been doing great with the cats! She chased one once for fun and did not like being told "NO!" so much that she hasn't chased anyone since. We have been following the advice from our adoption group and Greytalk and have not been allowing Lily to be interested in the cats at all. Now (2 weeks later) she is great and is muzzle-less when we are watching her and has her muzzle on when we aren't paying full attention. When the cats walk by her she turns her head and looks at the wall, or looks at us to make it obvious she's not looking at the cats. Too cute. We had to change her name (and my Greytalk profile) to better accommodate her personality. She came to us a sweet little girl and did not look like a Zippy at all. She looked like a little docile tiger. Her name Lily; short for Tiger-lily. Thanks for all the well-wishes and advice! We love our Lily to pieces! I'll post photos as soon as I figure out how to.
  11. Lily came to us 2.5 weeks ago (we live in Winnipeg, Manitoba) and the first time she came in from the snow she screamed like she was in pain and then ran into her kennel. She hides when she sees her winter jacket because it means she has to go outside. We have had several accident inside (about 1xday for 5 days) because she tries to "hold it" for as long as she possibly can. Although she still doesn't love it we have made walking in the snow much better for her but putting her feet in booties. Lily prances around in them and seems elated with her new freedom of being able to walk in the snow without the snow getting between her toes. We have also gone outside with her every time she goes and give her much praise and a treat as soon as she does her business. By the sounds of it, your praise and treats are working if he did his business in the snow last night. Booties might be a nice too. I am thankful that it is freezing outside and most of my neighbors will never hear me sing the "pee" or "twosie" song. Lily is the only audience I need for that one. lol. Good luck! Accident free since Nov 29, Lily's mom.
  12. OK. It did not upload. I will try again later after I read more help topics...
  13. Darn! I tried to upload the photo, but I guess it didn't work.... I will try again. Right here.....
  14. Hello! This is Lily (or "Tiger-hound" as we affectionately call her) our very first Greyhound. She is a 2.5 year-old brindle female greyhound. She has been living with us and our three cats for 13 days so far and we just lover her to pieces! She is a quiet girl who has bursts of energy and really, really, REALLY does not like the cold weather. She has been getting along well with all of our cats thanks in large part to the advice we received from our adoption group and from Greytalk. Living with a Greyhound is fabulous; she is such a well tempered dog with a sweet personality and big heart. We look forward to many years of her company and lots of chats on Greytalk. Lily's mom Winnipeg, MB
  15. Thanks for all the greyt advice! We picked up Zippy last night and she is beautiful! She stole our hearts right away and she has been great with the cats so far - very calm and not too interrested. Two of our three cats are interrested in Zippy and are trying to get close. The other cat is in hiding. We established the basement as the cat safe-zone, but no one seems to be scrambling for safety yet. I plan on keeping the muzzel on Zippy in the house until we are 100% sure she is good with the cats, and we've been keeping a close eye on the cats too. Zippy is such a great dog! Chinook Winds did such a great job of placing her. I'm very confident this will all work out with a little patience and time. I took photos and will post them asap.
  16. Thanks for the tips guys! I will definitely be using the muzzle, and we have a crate for her that I will use for sure. Her foster mom says Zippy likes her crate, so this should work out well. Sula - that is one territorial cat! Great story! Lesson learned - I will be extra careful both ways. I don't want the new dog to hurt my cats, and I certainly don't want my new grey to be hurt (feelings or otherwise) by the cats. The resuce organization did cat test the dog. She is living in a great home with three cats and three other dogs right now and apparently is a little afraid of the cats. I've been told this is good. I guess I'll find out for sure who is more afraid of who on Thursday. Once Zippy is settled in to her forever home I'll post pictures.
  17. Hello! I'm new to the web site and will be a new mom to a greyound this Thursday!! I currently live in a home owned by three cats and I'm looking for advice on how to introduce the dog to the cats. If anyone has any tips/stories I would love to hear them.
