  1. Hi there! Good luck with your moves and house hunting!
  2. "She is an perfect angel of a dog" Sounds like a greyhound to me! Beautiful girl you've got there! :welcome2
  3. I'm glad he is feeling better! Poor guy. I understand the alluring power of chicken. Some houndies are powerless against the delicious smell of chicken...
  4. Welcome home pretty girl! Have you sipped from the fountain of delicious lemon water yet? Congratulations!! :yay
  5. I have a toothbrush that slips over my finger and two tubes of toothpaste I bought from the vet (salmon and poultry). Now what? Lily will let me put my hands on her mouth but I don't want to ruin the experience by pushing too far on her first brushing. Any advice on how to brush her teeth?
  6. Welcome from Winnipeg! Great photos!! I love the "boy and his hound" - too cute.
  7. Hello! Lily was fostered just outside of Edmonton, so you were practially neighbors!
  8. IT was done in the states - CO. The phone number for the vet is on the tag. I called but their answering machine said they were closed. I'll try calling again. I think it is one year too.
  9. Thanks guys. I'll call the vet where her rabies shot was done and see what they say. The "1yr" stamp on her rabies collar makes me think that she is over-due for a rabies shot...
  10. We adopted Lily in November 2007.... I have documentation showing Lily had her rabies shot and distemper shots in August of 2007. The paperwork from the veterinarian that was included in my adoption papers said next distemper due in 2010, and next rabies due in 2008. So, this past August I take her to the vet and bring along the adoption package showing that she needs a rabies shot. The vet says "no", she needs distemper. Rabies is good for 3 years. I said, "the paper work shows that distemper is good for 3 years and the rabies is only good for one". He replies "well, the people who run adoption groups often aren't veterinarians - I know what's best" (or something like that). I tell him the immunization information is from a vet clinic. He says to trust him.... I listen to him and Lily gets distemper and NOT rabies shot. This brings us to today - - I'm signing Lily and I up for obedience classes (just something to keep us busy this winter when it is too cold to play outside) and they are asking about Lily's immunizations and whether they are up to date, etc... so I'm looking at Lily's tag collar to give her the rabies information and printed right on the rabies tag "1yr". Grrr... sooo..... long story short - are there more than one type of rabies shot? Is there more than one type of distemper shot - and she got immunized too soon? Is my vet wrong? I have an appointment on Sat to get a bordatella shot (kennel cough) before obedience class starts, so this would be a good time to get the rabies updated if needed.
  11. Dropping in to see how he is. I agree, the blood-work sounds like good news. Maybe he does need some home time and TLC before the ultrasound. If the vet is suggesting that you wait to do the ultrasound they must not be too concerned that Soul's problem is the thing we are not discussing. :grouphug for you and gentle scritches for Soul. This all sounds stressful.
  12. This thread makes me laugh. Hot Rod is one sneaky fella
  13. I would check on him at lunch for sure. I don't have much experience with this, but if his heart is still racing at lunch I'd take him to the vet. I hope he is fine. Or maybe he was acting strange because of the run yesterday? Lily tends to sleep deeper and "yip" in her sleep on nights after a good run with the gang. His racing heart is a concern though... Keep us posted...
  14. She is beautiful! Congratulations!!
