OMG I didn't realize dentals were so outrageously expensive! I have been meaning to make an appointment with the vet for a dental for Merlin. I love my vet, but their bills are not cheap. I would be prepared to get several quotes and drive several tens of miles before I paid $500-$600. That's ridiculous - especially considering they should be done once a year... is that right? Or is it less frequently than that?

I'm so very sorry. Sending many hugs. :grouphug Run free, beautiful Vinnie.

Yes, I agree, your vet seems good, and keen to make sure she's ok and out of the anaesthesia before she goes home. Get some rest tonight (I know it's hard not to worry, but remind yourself that she seems to be in great hands!). Hope Halle feels better soon. Please keep us posted!

I use something called Veterinarian's Best Ear Relief Wash Pet Swabs. They're like Q-tips except you break one tip off and it releases a cleaning/anti-spetic liquid into the other tip and you use that to clean the ear. I first tried using regular cotton balls but it just wasn't working for me. I couldn't see what I was doing!
I buy them from JBpet.com because they're several dollars cheaper than on the Veterinarian's Best website. You can find them here.

Heather, thank you for the update! I just logged in to check if you'd had the chance to post more about the surgery. So glad to went well! You must be very tired. Try to get some rest... we're thinking of you and your gorgeous brave hound.

Thank you everyone... I really appreciate your support. I do use canned pumpkin, he gets a little spoonful with each meal. And he loves the stuff! Things seem to be better already, he doesn't seem to need to go out all the time anymore. He was very playful earlier, and I didn't see any blood when he peed at lunchtime... Right now, he's snoring on my bed, under a mountain of blankets. :D

Aaaww, he looks amazing!!!  Thank you so much for sharing these pics with us! I love all the pics, but the one that really melted my heart was the one of Carrier with dad. So touching!
You have a brave and amazing boy. And he has an amazing mom!
