  1. Mary Pat (MP_the4pack) wants to carry on the GT tradition of Secret Santa. If anyone is interested please respond to her Secret Santa thread in Announcements and News.

I know Trudy is not doing Secret Santa this year. But I was wondering if we still want to do it on our own. It would be basic, no buttons indicating shipping, acknowledgement,  etc.

If enough people respond to this email I'll have you guys PM me your address and number of SS you want. Then I'll ask for a volunteer not participating (because I want to participate) to do the matching and PM the info to the recipient.

You would need to have your mailbox empty. And we would still use elves.

That's it. No policing to make sure you're honoring your commitment.

So let me know if you'd like to do SS like this, this year.

Would you mind if I mentioned this in the Everything Greyhound and the Events section directing people towards this thread?

  3. I was told that Purina did away with that program. I checked it out and this is what I found.

To be eligible for Purina Pro Club, you must be a breeder or personally care for 5 or more dogs or cats. It’s free and easy to sign up. Just complete the 2 part application (member/pet profiles) to start taking advantage of Purina Pro Club’s many benefits.

Please note: Institutional organizations, such as rescue groups, humane societies
or animal shelters do not qualify for the Purina Pro Club Program.

Jan, I'm sorry I don't know this, but do you care for 5 dogs and/or cats yourself? If so you could take advantage of the program.

  4. Trixie and Burke, I'm so very sorry to read of your loss of River. Your tribute to her was beautiful.  I have found that as we give our hearts to the dogs that come into our lives they become exactly what we needed at that moment in time.

That's kind of exactly how I would expect a Great Dane x Shepherd mix to look.  :dunno

She's pretty big for a greyhound and pretty stocky through the shoulder.   The fur doesn't seem right for a greyhound either.

The set of the ears doesn't fit either that of a Great Dane or Shepherd. They look like the ears of a greyhound to me.

I'm going to ask the shelter tomorrow if they know for sure if she is a Great Dane x Shepherd cross or if that was a guess they made.

Does it matter?  She looks sweet.

It matters because I was interested to know if anyone else saw greyhound in her as much as I do. Unlike Texas where there are a lot of greyhound mixes that serve as coyote dogs, a greyhound mix is rare in this area.

  7. Agreed, I wouldn't worry about it. Though I am careful not to let my girls do it in people's yards so when we're places where it doesn't matter like on hikes, I let the go to town and sometimes they really will, Violet especially. It's pretty funny when she gets really into it. :lol

I also find it amusing how they will take off like they've been shot out of a rocket after taking a dump if not on a lead.

  8. I too would like to add my congratulations to your getting into the grad school program you wanted. I wish you the best in this next new stage of your life.

I have anxiously looked forward to and enjoyed your comics these past many Sundays and will continue to sporadically check in the event you find the time to post more of these gems.
