  1. I use Melatonin for Gracie during July, it really helps her with anxiety and coping with loud noises. I use 3 mg tablets and use up to 9 mg a day depending on how close to the 4th it is. I don't know that it makes dogs sleepy like it does us, but it sure helps her be less anxious.

Have you visited this site ? http://www.canine-ep...m/melatonin.htm Very good information, hope it helps .

  2. I don't feed totally raw but I usually give a handful of mixed gizzards and hearts with a turkey neck, or put several of each on top of kibble. The only organ meat I have to watch out for is liver, I have to give it with bony stuff or they get fairly loose poo. I go to an Hispanic market and get offal, something called pepitas which is mixed intestines and stomach from the look of it and chicken feet ... the hounds go ape over chicken feet!

I've added "a little of this and a little of that" to kibble , or to a chicken quarter with out separating anything. If they caught their own they would eat the whole thing in one or two big gulps, including feathers or fur.

Again, I don't feed totally raw, this is just my experience.

  3. If they have never had raw before they may look at you funny for a moment or two as they try to figure it out, my two inhale them! I feed kibble but get necks at the grocery store and they have them as a snack or meal, depending on the size, at least once a week. Yesterdays were bigger around than my wrist , six inch chunks that weighed in at a pound ... meal. Sometimes they are about an inch in diameter 7-8 inches long ... a snack. Turkey gizzards I do cut up, they're big, but chicken gizzards and hearts just get mixed in with kibble.
