  1. Gracie is a game player too. She won't eat her own kibble, she'll stand there and look at me with those big eyes and then go eat Carl's, or if he's finished she'll stand there and wait for me to pour some out of her bowl into his ... then she'll eat. She likes to take a few bites then walk away, I have to pick up her bowl because Carl would inhale it in two seconds. Then all is normal for a while until we start the games again. She NEVER refuses cookies, meat or turkey necks.

I try to wait her out but she bugs the heck out of me; whines, pokes, follows my every step, jumps up and heads to the kitchen every time I move ... she's trained me well.

  2. As others have said watch the promotional period and make sure you pay it off before then, the credit charge can jump to as high as 28% for the entire amount owed, not just what you still owe. When I have used it, mainly for my dental work, I divided the amount owed by the number of months in the promo period and wrote the amount due /mo and the date it was to be paid off by in a back section of my checkbook. Also remember that each time you use it that it can be a different promo period and due date.

  3. Trazadone is the best drug for fireworks ever! Gracie pant, paces, quivers drools and is just terribly stressed by fireworks and thunder. I started the Trazadone Saturday since we have been having some fireworks almost every night, she did really well, but tonight was the big test ... it's world war three around here for several hours. Gracie was calmly snoozing away, later when I came in to check on them I was greeted at the door and she walked out back with me while there were still fireworks going off!

This has been the best 4th in 6 years!

What dose Trazodone do you give her, and how much does she weigh?

Glad to hear she stayed comfy.

I have 50 kg tablets and the vet said 100 - 150 mg every 12 hours. I started her Saturday on 100 mg and noticed she was very calm with all the stray the pops and booms throughout the evening. I continued at that dose until yesterday when I gave her 150 mg every 12 hrs. Last nights fireworks lasted a little over three continuous hours with stray booms until about 2;30 AM. What really amazed me was that she didn't appear to be sedated , wasn't uncoordinated and dazed, she was just Gracie.

Gracie is a tall very slim 72 pounds.

  5. Gracie hate fireworks, thunder, and the kid drummer up the street. She paces, pants shivers, quivers and drools. I have used Ace in the past and had a frightened hound that could barely stand and was dangerous walking. Carl mostly ignores it and sleeps

For the occasional pops and booms we've been having this week I've been giving Gracie 9mg Melatonin after dinner, she has a bed in the closet that she retreats to and is pretty OK. She will get up and come look at me then go back to the closet.

Starting tomorrow she's getting Trazadone, and will stay on it until the 5th. Dr Heidi uses it for her dogs and swears by it, NO melatonin with it as they work very similarly.

Our neighborhood has more profession type displays then some paid shows! Last year the kids down the street were making acetylene bombs! The fire dept does a yearly drive through ... it's NOISY. I block the doggie door, leave the AC on to keep it really cool, a fan in the bedroom, radio or TV
