  1. Sorry you are going through a tough time at the moment, our experience with toe removal, stems from some two years ago.our boy pepper had a cyst between his toes ,front left leg,we tried two different antibiotics ,fine all the time pep was on antibiotics the cyst went down ,but as soon as pep finished the course, the cyst came up again,so surgery was the only option.initially it was to remove the cyst, but the vet found the bone was infected so the whole toe was removed, a few problems with the healing process down to pep being a nibbler and licker, but that said pep has made a complete recovery and is back to his old self with no problems whatsoever. hope this is of some help, good luck
  2. Pepper update, Dee took pep to the vets this morning, he has eight stitches ,and is now at home recovering from the anasthetic, still a bit drowsy and confused,it seems he is taking longer to come round this time but hopefully he will be as right as rain in a few days.thank you all for your kind thoughts
  3. Very relieved,i don`t think i initially over reacted but i did`nt know what to think when i arrived home,to find pep pep missing and the phone book open on the vets page, like it was get there quick that said when dee phoned the vets it was out of hours, and they said if she could get pep there in twenty minuets they would see him,so it was a bit quick.
  4. Sorry for the long wait,My partner took the boys for their afternoon walk ,pepper dissapeared into the woods, and came out with a wound to his front right foot ,he has peeled a flap of skin on the top of one of his toes, which will require stitching which the vet will do tomorrow, its been dressed and pep is resting,i was panic stricken and thinking the worst when i came home from work so thank you all for your kind thoughts and concerns
  5. I don`t know why ,i decided to leave work early today, but on arriving home ,only found buster indoors no sign of pepper and the phone book open on the vets page, and my partner left her phone indoors
  6. Prayers and kind thoughts for you and bella
  7. Thanks , Mel, He is making a little improvement, just started to put a little weight on the leg,so ,and he is lapping up all the attention, and with buster not being the most energetic little dog its not to hard to keep him resting ,
  8. my partner Took Buster to the vets today, and the prognosis is ligament damage so its keep him resting for three weeks, The vet is hopeful it will heal itself,if not its surgery to have a plate fitted,in the meantime he is on metacam, Thank youall for your kind thoughts.
  9. Up Date on buster,He is a bit happier today ,but still will not put any weight on his rear right leg ,so its off to the vets tomorrow
  10. Hi All, Could you kind Folks spare some kind thoughts for buster,as some of you may know, buster is a border terrier,we do not know what happened when we got into the field this afternoon, the boys trotted off as normal ,my brother and i were chatting when we looked buster was laying down,i sensed something was not right,he is now lame ,and cannot put any weight on his rear right leg,we can only assume he tried to jump the small ditch and injured himself, nothing visible, other than feeling sorry for himself, and not putting weight on the leg,we will see how he is in the morning, then mabey a trip to the vets,so kind thoughts and prayers requested please.
  11. Iwas wondering if you good folks on GT could give me some advice on nail trimming. my boy pepper is a seven year old grey x saluki. the last time his nails were trimmed was about march, while he was at the vet having a wound stitched, while under sedation.his nails are black and long,i have no problem cutting them with nail clippers, but pep will have none of it.i tried today while my daughter was feeding pep treats but he was having none of it ,and got quite nasty.i could take pep to the vets, but that would mean sedation, pep gets stressed enough as it is,i suppose i could try a muzzle and just go for it ,any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks ,peter
  12. OH no ,so very sorry hilda ,run free goghbaby, hugs to you hil we are thinking of you.
  13. Hi all just an update on peps wound, its been 8 days since pep was stitched up, and on tuesday pep removed three stitches, the wound opened up a little but does`nt look to bad at the moment,we need to watch pep 24/7 so that he does`nt remove the other three and open the wound up completely.kind thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated.
  14. Thanks mel, at the moment pep is not bothered by it ,but that said ,our main concern is if pep tries to remove the stitches, while we are not looking like he did this morning with the dressing ,that said i would like to think the wound has knitted together by now
  15. Yes the vet said they would dissolve, and only to take pep back if the wound was weeping or sore but it looks fine.
  16. My boy pepper ,has six stitches in at the present time,he was sedated,so the vet could work on him,Back in march pep had a toe removed which required at least twelve stitches, pep had four dressing changes, and needed to be sedated every time without any problems, the reason being pep has issues with vets. hope this is of some help.
  17. Hi all ,could any of the good folk ,here on GT give me some idea how long it takes for sutures to dissolve, You see pepper has six in a leg wound, its been seven days since the vet stitched pep up ,pep has been quite good with the dressing,no nibbling ,until today when he took the dressing off, and shredded it,The woundlooks good, but i am unsure wether to redress the wound or leave it uncovered, hoping pep does`nt nibble the sutures, we only need to go back to the vet if it becomes weepy or sore, but it looks fine, thanks for any info.
