Do you know other greyhound owners? Maybe have a play date & see how she responds. My Patches was scared of everything. She would drink water looking over her shoulder when
I first got her but I had a 2nd female at the time to show her the ropes. She blossomed into the best dog I could have asked for. Be patient which I know you have been.

My second grey was not quite 2 years old when I got her. She was a sweetheart and I survived her, but ever since I've asked for mature or adult dogs.
This. Nothing younger than 5 for me

My first grey would do this but would lay down & not move!! For a good 15-20 minutes. One time the dog walker called the police because she did not know what to do
All behavioral in nature. I learned to carry high value treats (think Bill Jacks liver treats) to get her up & going again!!

?cost of PRP? I know in humans it is very expensive. No insurance company will pay because there is limited studies if it works.

I'm single. Have had greyhounds for over 10 years (I know I'm still a newbie on here) Have left my pups easily 8-9 hours with no issues. Occasional accidents but that about
it. Best of luck. For me best decision of my life.

I assume your vet is aware of different blood values seen with Greyhounds-specifically slightly elevated creatinine?
This. I was told my 1st grey had KF by a vet that had no knowledge that Greyhounds Cr run higher due to their muscle mass. Had her on KD diet for over a year when I did
my own research & found this out. She lived till 13 as well.

Is anybody organizing on in Massachusetts? Don't want to miss out!

So this was my first year attending and I loved it. Maya had her nails done, road an elevator , had a photo shoot, ice cream social, walked the battlefields!! At 11 1/2 she was pretty tired.
The Eisenhower has its issues and our room was no exception but they were very attendant to all our issues and fixed them in a timely manner. I'm guessing there must have been close to 200 dogs at their facility so I think they do their best. And downtown Gettsburg near the rotary was just fabulous😄😄🐶🐶

Now that its getting closer do we have to make dinner reservations in advance? Can anybody recommend good places to go for dinner? Someone mentioned food trucks?

If it moves probably nothing to worry about. You could call the adoption group you adopted from to see if they noticed it; or noted in their vets notes.

I would have had an opportunity to meet you. I am sorry that we cannot attend this year.
I know When I read you could not attend I was sad. I still have all the jackets you made for my Patches & Zim (who are gone). They are too small for my big girl
Maya but hopefully I'll find a small greyhound again in the future.

Thank you for the up date about the Eisenhower. I made reservations a few weeks back & no mention of muzzles. Seems like an easy thing to do to keep everybody
safe.

I have tent camped several times this past summer with my one greyhound & my friends large German Shepard. They stay in their own separate annex to sleep in at
night. I never leave her unattended in this. They both sleep well in there. I am right beside them in a separate tent. If we want to go for side trips they are both
in the back of the Jeep. When we are sitting out near the fire she is with me on her leash of coarse. She really does well with all of this.

Sorry I tried to upload a picture but could not size it to fit. Maybe one of her peeps can post one

My heart dog Zim is gone. She passed quietly at the vet @2:30 today. I adopted her at age 23 months and she out lived most of her peeps. She was a mean sassy fresh greyhound but she was mine. I feel like I will never get over her loss. Until we meet again my beautiful baby girl.
Patchy and I loved you dearly.

Invader Zim will be one of the Angels. Waiting for her to give me the sign😪

How about cat food the wet stuff. When zim skips a few meals which she has done for years this is what I give her to keep some calories in her.

My two girls have lived together 7 years. No issues at all. Then all of a sudden a year ago one has a bite on her butt one week later the other has a bite on her face. And a year later no incidents at all. It may not even happen again.
-
OMG she is beautiful.

The dog is safe thank god. Hugs to Ami mom. What a roller coaster.

You gave her all the best help in the world. Take your time to grieve (I'm even sitting here with tears in my eyes) but from reading your posts you will make a wonderful grehound owner. They have their quirks but otherwise are just great dogs. Please try to keep in touch with people on this forum who live near you and maybe use the adoption group they used. Or better yet maybe dog sit! I will be thinking of you over the next days....

Did by getting a girl they would less bossy!! You may be in for a big suprise. Best of luck. She is gorgeous.

How far away are we talking with a greyhound only place. It may be you have to leave autumn one day earlier and later if it is a long ride. To me it would be worth it. Heck I drive 2 hours total for dentals for an experienced grey vet.

Your dog will be well cared for in mendon. I would leave mine there in a heart beat but one of my dogs does not crate well so they go to a home environment.
