  1. Looks great- I would have said to debride, debride, debride: http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=40481 We healed up a big wound on Chloe that way many moons ago by scrubbing it daily with chlohexaderm and covering it. http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandingSi...mshare&Ux=0 I have also used granulex on wounds and it seems to work well. Good work on it!
  2. I saw the title and aside from different spelling I was shocked to see that someone else has a Chloe and a Polly! Hope to hear things continue to improve!
  3. We had a nerve sheath tumor removed from the top of chloe's head. That was 4 years ago and no sign of it returning. The vets were all a little surprised as it can be hard to get all of it and they often return.
  4. We dealt with the same type of issues- we switched to raw and he didn't have another problem for the rest of his life...in fact- upon the switch, the next day his stool was wonderfully firm and maybe even bounced when it hit the ground...only those who have dealt with scraping up pan cake batter stool can appreciate how wonderful that was. I have been feeding all my dogs raw for 9 years now and we are thrilled with the results.
  5. You might try using a product like granulex- they use it for people with bedsores. Best of luck with your girl.
  6. I would recommend Marcia Zais. I did a seminar with her years ago- it was a wonderful day. http://marciazais.com/
  7. I'm so sorry, Sheila. Hugs to you all. This has been a hard week for dogs- Buzz is the 4th one I know this week. I'm sure they will all find each other and are now free of pain.

How horrible for both of you. She is now pain free and has join the ranks of some of the most wonderful greyhounds that ever walked this earth- they will take good care of her. The hard part is those of us they leave behind. With tears and hugs, please know that we are thinking of you.
  9. There aren't any antibiotics that work for viral infections. Antibiotics work on bacterial infections. It is also very unlikely that an adult dog has corona virus and has most likely been vaccinated against the self limiting virus every year of their pet life. There are many things that can cause loose stool. The two dogs I am most familiar with lately both had cancer- one has lymphoma and the other had a growth in her intestine. The first dog was treated for many things before the another vet finally looked for another reason for the cause rather than treating the symptoms. Has she been treated for worms? Whips can cause liquid stool. Is her stool just liquid or is there urgency as well? My first greyhound, Nate, always had loose to liquid stool on kibble. When we changed his diet to one without any grains it immediately improved. As for walking- you might try a trick that friend would do to help pick up soft/loose stool- clumping cat litter- bad for cats great for cleaning up messes.
  10. I think it is more a question of apporpriate food source rather than useless. I certainly seems to help older horses keep weight on but...my dogs aren't horses. Now I think its time to post the story of the squirrel and the beet pulp... The Squirrel and the Beet Pulp
  11. Beet pulp can certainly firm up things but it tends to be more of a bandaid than a cure. My own experience is that most greyhounds do better with more real meat protein than fiber. If you are looking for something to coat the GI tract, slippery elm is quite good.
  12. I t could be a UTI or it could be overexertion. Usually happens with couch potatoes who get out to run and go too hard but it could happen from heat and lots of walking...
  13. hugs to all that need them- what a beautiful boy...
  14. Oh Devon, My heart is breaking for you all. Hugs,
  15. I'm so sorry. There are no easy answers. Keep her pain free and be brave enough to recognize when you can't anymore. Lots of hugs and good thoughts heading your way.

Oh, I'm so terrbily sorry. I just saw this. What a shock it must have been for you and your whole family of hounds and humans. Although hardest on us, it is a blessing he went quickly. You will be in our thoughts.
  17. Oh I hate when that happens! Good luck securing the server.

Oh Jenn- I can't believe it. It is so hard when they leave us suddenly. He was such a wonderful dog and you made a perfect family. It always feels like there is a huge hole in your heart when they go but you will soon learn that they are always with us.
  21. What a fitting tribute to a lovely girlie. We enjoyed meeting her at Dewey. She reminds me so much of Chloe. Big hugs to all of you. I think we get to be better people for the wonderful creatures that share our lives. They teach us so much in such a short period of time.
