  1. I just watched the video and would also recommend full xrays of that shoulder. When my Jeany fell just after getting to the UK she was walking that exact same way, dragging her foot and knuckling the toes. When we got her to the vet, they said that she had dislocated the shoulder in the fall, and I think if I'd told DH to take her on before I got here she might still be with us because she did more damage after the fall trying to walk on it and get adjusted. I didn't read all the responses so you may have done this already and if so, ignore me. Good thoughts coming from across the pond...
  2. Whew! I still have to meet the Miracle herself now that I'm this side of the Atlantic. Hooray for Darcy!!
  3. You've got our prayers, Tracey. I remember the feeling of wracking my brain and the internet when we were looking for answers for Jeany. Whatever you decide today, know that all of us love you and trust that you will make the best decision possible. Cosmo has been and continues to be a lucky girl to have you and Jason loving and caring for her.
  4. You got it Tracey, coming all the way from Yorkshire.
  5. Hello from an American expat in Yorkshire! Your animals are all gorgeous...is Sparkie's colour more abundant in the UK? I had never seen it until I moved to the UK.
  6. Thanks for posting, Judy, after the first shots of Handsome Handsome Sid and your garden, Daisy's been trying to figure out train schedules from here to you on the computer! Just kidding...he is GORGEOUS! Welcome home, Sid!
  7. Oh no, Clare...bless your heart. Godspeed pretty Maggie.

    Jude

I'm so sorry. I hope that it helps thinking of your two running together again as it has helped me to think of H and J that way. Jude was a lucky pup.
  9. I miss you Hunkabunchalove. That's all I can say.
  10. My proper remembrance of my Bubby boy, from The Lettuce: Clicky Just posted the link because I didn't really want to keep reading it as I posted it over and over.

Vince, your boy sounds so much like my Hunky, even down to the auto-immune induced toenail loss...I'm sure they met at the Bridge Friday morning.
  12. Too many losses recently, and now this! Godspeed Loca.
  13. That one is funny, Janet, because Daisy is the only one that looks comfortable. J is showing off her therapaw boot as if to say "Can someone take this off, for the love of PETE?" and H looks like J just got stinky (which was always a possibility...). And Heather, I think his name was the coolest and totally perfect...to this day I haven't met another "Hunk" or "Hunky."
  14. Mary, thanks for that picture of him at GARF. It's on the external HD from my old computer in the states and Simon wanted to see a picture of "young" Hunky. I got a condolence message on Facebook from HRH from GARF yesterday, by the way. Thanks to all of you. I'm still not quite ready to write a lot about him...soon.
  15. Thanks y'all, I'm not as active as I used to be on GT, but I wanted those that would remember my Hunky Man to know of his passing. My heart is in a million pieces.
  16. Hunky died of a probable heart attack this morning around 9:30am BST (4:30am EST). More later. My only comfort is that these two are together again...what a reunion that must have been.
  17. I spoke to the vet we've used since we've been here, and apparently the type of mosquito that carries heartworm doesn't live in the UK...he said the only time they even test for heartworm is when an animal has been to a country that has them, like the continent or the states. So no preventative here, much as that makes me a little nervous.
  18. Here's an add on question...is there a problem with heart worms in the UK? I found a site that told me it was transmitted through slugs here rather than mosquitoes but I'm not giving that much credence. What I do know is I can't get what I usually give mine here, which is frustrating.
  19. Any petsitters in the UK? I'm hitting a lot of dead ends and won't kennel Hunk at his age and with his issues this summer.
  20. CL, we may have to talk about belly bands if they are stretchy. I have four that were made by a friend of mine in SC that are great for younger dogs but I think they impede H's already failing ability to control his back end because they are not stretchy, if that makes sense? I use Tena incontinence pads, the aloe vera kind. Poor DH, it wasn't until I got over here and showed him that he knew they had the adhesive on the back..."So THAT'S how you keep them from falling out of the belly band!"
  21. For those of you with incontinent males (either fully or just those that dribble) that use a belly band, do you find that the pressure of the belly band seems to control the accidents? After H's recent UTI, we were leaving the belly band off for fear that was where the bacteria came from. We've noticed that with it on, he goes from floods to dribbles, but the floods return when you take the band off. (Personally I think the UTI came from the relocation folks NOT taking the band off him before he flew, so he wore the same incontinence pad/belly band for about 12 hours...) I'm going to get DH to grab a large bottled water from Sainsbury's on the way home to give them to drink, but any other info concerning belly band use would be great. I think that we're at the LS point with him due to the weakness/wobbly back end and that he does that very thing where he walks off before he's done...like he doesn't know.
  22. I hope that she and the Divine One had a long hard look at each other, and then had marshmallows. Didn't you tell me once, Pat, that J looked a lot like your girl? Thanks for all the kind words, y'all. Yesterday Simon and I called a cab and who should show up but the who drove us and J to the vet, throwing her all over the back of his cab and most likely causing the dislocation that ended her chances to be a tripod and still be here with me. It was all I could do...anyway, thanks.
  23. Thanks, y'all. It's been really tough to wrap my head around this one...Jeany was the second greyhound I adopted. She came to me one month after Hunky, so it's been hard on him too I think. The pictures are great...I'm hoping to be able to look at them soon without tears.
