  1. I would have mentioned, “greyhounds are extremely calm, quiet animals. My girl is a great example of why the absurd muzzle law was changed. Poorly trained dogs of any breed may bite, but it’s rare for greyhounds due to their gentle nature. My girl is very well-behaved compared to other dogs we come in contact with, plus your comments are incorrect and based on old lies and myths.”

This a bit wordy, but my point is that it’s not rude, counters some of her inaccurate statements and focuses on the good behaviour demonstrated by your girl. Plus you could laugh and say greyhounds are smart enough to know the difference between a dog and a rabbit.

btw, your English is great and so we’re your responses. Hope this helps!

  2. FYI for those looking for at room at the Quality Inn, I'm cancelling my room at the Quality Inn today.

2019 will be a very odd year for us. For the first time in 15 years, we will not be attending any greyhound events...hard to believe.

  3. Bailey, our first greyhound, was a chronic statuer, but her issue was fear based. I wonder if you have reinforced the behaviour with car rides. She knows if she stops a car ride is next.

Have you tried keeping a high value treat in your hand that’s holding the leash assuming it’s motivating enough to keep her moving forward trying to get the treat from your hand?

  4. Robin, I am so sorry to hear this. Iker will always have a special place in my heart. I remember how much Brooke loved him too. He had such a sweet gentle nature. Dave will be so sad too, he loved Iker too.

  5. Wonderful update.

I’m another one who doesn’t use crates. In fact I can’t remember if I ever asked the fosters if our greyhounds were crated. 14 years ago we adopted Ben, and his foster family said he loved his crate. So we came home and set it up for him. The neighbours said he cried a lot when we were out. After 1 day... goodbye crate. We never set up another one again and we’ve adopted 4 more greyhounds since then. In fact, i don’t even remember we have one when we bring a new pup home now.

Some people say they use crates so their greyhounds are used to them and will go into them willingly at the vets, really like them feel safe, etc. According to our vet, they were always well behaved angels, so it’s never an issue.

  6. Lee, Lu-Ann, Gail, Jim, Lisa, Dave and I will be there this year. We need to meet up because we really miss Camp Cocktail. I agree with Tricia, keep calling the QI; they always have cancellations and sometimes people inform others on GT. Perhaps you may see some cancellation posts on this thread. :wave

  7. You can test for dehydration. Grab some fur/skin behind his neck and gently pull upwards. If it returns to normal right away, Pablo is likely hydrated enough. If it remains bunched up, he’s dehydrated. Check for pink gums too.

Glad to hear he seems to be improving, but definitely visit your vet if he’s still dehydrated or has diarrhea since it seems like it’s been a few days and he won’t be absorbing valuable nutrients.
