  1. I asked our vet about this and she said rabbits in our area dont carry any diseases dangerous to dogs. Emmy and Simon eat rabbit poop and are fine. They only eat frozen rabbit poop.

Perhaps you should check with your vet about diseases. If youre worried, i agree with the poop guard.

  2. Letting her go is the most loving thing you can do for Ruby. Personally, I would rather deal with guilt if I felt I let one of our pups go too soon rather than the guilt if I let them suffer.

Ruby wont feel its too soon because she lives in the moment. Good luck with your decision. First greyhound or last greyhound, it never gets easier. Greytalk has a lot of wonderful compassionate people who understand.

  3. Is Pablo vomiting yellow bile? If so, I would continue to feed him a snack before bed. If his stomach growls while out walking you could give some kibble as treats while on your walk so hes not getting so hungry that he throws up. But you have to do this so he doesnt throw up since hell only want grass if he gets too hungry.

If hes not gaining weight I would experiment with a bit more food before bed until you find the right amount that keeps him full enough until breakfast, but not cause weight gain.

You can also give him Pepsid AC (famotidine) to reduce stomach acid when his stomach is making gurgling noises. Dosage is 1.0 mg/kg body weight.

I would also try adding a bit of water to his kibble. Some of our dogs prefer moistened food over dry food.

I hope some of these suggestions help.

  4. I’m a firm believer in positive reinforcement, so I would never use any method that scares them such as squirting water or loud noises. Rather, our house is dog proof, so rarely will you find food in reach of a paw or mouth.

Simon and Katie were both counter surfers, and a short quick “down” command along with praise as soon as they got down worked for them. Emmy is still a counter surfer, but only when it’s time to eat now, so vigilance works as she runs into the kitchen. Plus she must sit and wait for the “ok” command before she can eat her food.

Now I can leave an empty plate in the living room, and none of them touch it.
