Guest Kayes4
Today I said goodbye to my Peter Pan. My clown. My laughter. My Soul-Dog. Teddy came to us as a foster New Year's Eve 2001. He had been returned to our greyhound adoption group after being in a home for 7 years. From the minute he stepped in our front door, he was home. After 2 months of avoiding bringing him to meet & greets, our President called to ask if she should put Teddy in the adoption newsletter or if we would rather have him live out his last "year or two" as a "Resident Foster." Scott and I talked seriously about it and Scott said - "Wendy is your confidant, Hook NEEDS you, Tinkerbell is your baby, and Teddy just loves YOU. Not us...YOU. He is already home." I made the unnecessary call, but I asked for his papers because we wanted to adopt him officially. In February, Teddy became the official Peter Pan in our Neverland. At almost 11 years old, he was the most active, the most playful, and the youngest acting of our four. He asked for love - he'd bunny hop across the room yelling "har-har" when he wanted nubbins. He was the first in line to greet me at the door, and the one at my side every waking (and sleeping) moment. When I got home from work - even when he got too sore - up until this week - a month past his 13th birthday - he would come upstairs with me when I changed clothes after work. I always told him to wait downstairs - but he just loved to be with me - and I with him. Although today is a somber one, I can't stand the thought that our house is going to be a serious place from now on because we will not have "Boy-O antics" to liven it up. He did everything he could to make every moment silly. From bunny hopping across the room to steal a bunny from someone, to HAR-HARing for love while biting the air until he got his way - to gently taking a piece of pizza from your hand while you were talking - to belching in your face as only our Boy-O could do...to peeing on the leg of a dinner guest just because he was happy to see her..our Boy-O was the laughter...the soul of our family. He had an old body, but a young soul. Today I say goodbye to Bottomline Ted - my soul-mate - my clown - my Boy-O.

Guest Snowy8
Hugs & slobber kisses to you & your sweet hubby. What a wonderful memorial. Bless your heart. I know what you're going thru. You did your very best to give him a happy home the last years of his life. It seems that is the only thing they will remember, no matter what they went through the years before...its what you did for him in his last years that will mean the most to both him & to you. Please find comfort in knowing you did this wonderful gesture for him & know that he loved you more than anything in the world. Thank you for sharing this tender moment with all of us. silverfish
I have tears in my eyes, too. You will miss him so much, but he is still with you in spirit. He will never leave you while you need him close - I believe that because of my experience with Susan. You gave him his last, best home. And your love. What more could he ask?
