Health Cert for travel

Recommended Posts

Good morning

This is my first post. Maya is 4 years old. We're planning to travel from Scotland to Belfast and on to the southwest in late December 21. The vet told me this morning that she can't make entries on Maya's EU passport, post Brexit. Therefore, a Health Cert is required and is going to cost £150! And will be required anew for each trip.

Is this info correct? It's a reputable vet practice. Has anyone found a way around or a cheaper option?

All the best,

Gallarus

Not something I have needed to do myself - hopefully someone else has and will be able to chip in, but be aware that there are relatively few UK-based members of Greytalk.

Here is a link to the official UK government advice, you do have to have the health certificate. You could try asking around some other vets, to see if any offer a better deal.

Clare with Tiger (Snapper Gar, b. 18/05/2015), and remembering Ken (Boomtown Ken, 01/05/2011-21/02/2020) and Doc (Barefoot Doctor, 20/08/2001-15/04/2015).

"It is also to be noted of every species, that the handsomest of each move best ... and beasts of the most elegant form, always excel in speed; of this, the horse and greyhound are beautiful examples."----Wiliam Hogarth, The Analysis of Beauty, 1753.

A quick search online seems to suggest that these certificates cost between £100 and £150. Does the vet also include the rabies vaccination and tapeworm treatment?

My brother has a holiday cottage in  Brittany which I used to go to for a couple of weeks every year. I won't be going for the foreseeable future because of the new pet regulations and I don't want to leave Grace behind. Hopefully once the EU has finished throwing it's dummy out of the pram it will become easier.
