Guest Mom2Shiloh
Is the best site still Dr. Stack's site? II need to get my new boy Dancer's one bad tooth taken care of asap..... the vet at my holistic practice who used to do dentals is only there two days a week and not doing dentals anymore; my vet there only is one day a week so obviously doesn't do dentals-- well I need some back up vets anyway. We went to a recommended practice in Providence last week but they referred us to a specialist in MA. He seems great, and I have a consultation appointment set up, for a Tuesday the 30th, that is only $75 -- minimum is 548 with no extractions -- probably will be 700 with extractions (2 -- one easy and one an upper canine and more difficult). I don't know what I am going to do yet; I am checking with the other holistic vet practice in the southern part of the state.. but I was going to do that anyway because really, I need a vet available more than 1 day a week.) Problem is that they indicated they don't have many greyhounds. Therefore I need to bring printouts or all the usual and I wanted to make sure I was up to speed on where to find them, been a while. tbhounds
Weird that a veterinary dentist that doesn't have gh experience. We all know how bad gh teeth can be. Bill Feeman and Dr Couto have published gh blood values. http://www.greyhoundadoptionofoh.org/Library/2010-greyhound-medical-packet.pdf Hope it helps. GeorgeofNE
You're not that far from Angell Memorial. I assure you, they know everything you need to know about Greyhounds and any other breed! I can recommend Dedham Veterinary Associates in addition to Angell, if you're still looking. The Dedham place is great--Dr. Kara Rycek took excellent care of George before I moved to Canton. Meandmy
I don't have any insight, but I'm thinking of you and Dancer-man. I hope everything goes smoothly and his toofies feel better quick! Guest Mom2Shiloh
I'm sorry -- that is what happens when I don't separate paragraphs. The Veterinary Dental specialist does have Greyhound experience; it's the new holistic place that I've been considering going to that doesn't. That's probably not relevant to the dental discussion except that I had wanted to check them out as an alternate holistic practice anyway since the owner of the place we used to go is slowly but surely driving all of her staff vets away... However the important thing here is getting the right care for Dancer since this is apparently a 'complicated tooth'. I can worry about the new regular holistic vet later. I have the name of someone at Angel also; I have a problem because I am absolutely paranoid about driving in anything resembling a city -- I shouldn't be, but I am. So if I end up having to go to Boston, I'll need to get someone to go with me. I'll let everyone know as soon as we're all set -- and thanks for the links and suggestions.
