jaym1
i saw this happen on his webcam. he chewed it for quite some time. i presume he cut it into small pieces before swallowing, as its very large. this is one i just pulled out of the same toy. its the same size. its malleable plastic, but could still have sharp edges. he isnt doing anything weird right now. Guest greybookends
If he chewed it up real small it should all pass. However I would keep a close eye on him. If you see any signs of distress get him straight to a vet as he may have a blockage. Right now all you can really do is watch and wait. Burpdog
Went thru something similar with Batman. Since I didn't know how well he chewed it, I took him to the vet in the morning and let the vet make him vomit. Batman had chewed well enough but better safe than sorry. That piece is huge. jaym1
he was chewing pretty vigorously, but i left work and raced home before he ate it, so im really not sure if or into how many pieces he chewed it. the vet told me not to induce vomiting, so basically i am just going to sit and wait. GeorgeofNE
I had a dog who was a die-hard toy eater. I had to switch from plastic type toys to latex only, since they had no hard edges when swallowed. Suggest you start buying toys without squeakers, but for now, I would just wait myself. sweetdogs
Who was the offender? Boy with tummy problems or New Boy? jaym1
Who was the offender? Boy with tummy problems or New Boy? important question! the new one is the culprit. i suppose it's technically possible that while i was riding home, tempo actually wrested the squeaker away and ate it, though i can say with a high degree of confidence that it wasnt him. so far nothing plastic has exited after four bowel movements, though a large piece of fabric of some sort did come out early this morning. Burpdog
Isn't he the one that is lethargic? Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
jaym1
Isn't he the one that is lethargic? nope. he's the opposite of lethargic. my original greyhound is the one with the long running problems.
jaym1
still hasnt come out, but he hasnt really shown any abnormal symptoms. he's still adjusting to his new food, so he's had a little gas and some soft stools, but nothing acutely bad. jaym1
4 days later, and he passed several pieces of chewed-up up squeaker, as well as the beak from a stuffed rooster that i didnt know had been mauled.

Guest Roadtripper
Yay! I have been curious to see how this "ends". Glad your pup is ok.
jaym1
from what i saw, there weren't enough pieces to account for the entire thing, but i didnt exactly go crazy looking. more surprises might still be on the way.
Guest KennelMom
He may eventually vomit up what doesn't pass...or it'll all eventually come out. Just keep an eye out for lethargy, belly tenderness, vomiting, etc...we ga e a stuffie eater in our crew so we cant leave any out unattended.
