We just lost our precious Hailey on November 15th. For a long time I've always wanted a boy and with losing Hailey so close to the holidays, I knew I needed my boy now. I also knew that's what Hailey wanted for us. She wanted us to give our love to another and she sent me signs. DH was originally against it and wanted to wait a couple of months but he knew my feelings on it and he started secretly working on getting me a dog!!! I love him for that. He doesn't know I know about this but it means so much to me. He was working witht he group we got our girls from but we've now moved 1/2 way across the country!!! Long story short, I was also looking to adopt locally and we went with a localish group. (we still had to travel but only 2 1/2 hours!!)

So, we took our 3 kids and Sara and went to meet some dogs. We met 10 dogs. Sonny (WV's Ranson) was the first one we met and of course the one we chose!

We were originally scheduled to get him on the 10th. He had been at the kennel for almost a year and the 10th was his 1 year anniversary there. For many reasons, I didn't want to wait until them and figured out a way to get him on the 3rd, Saturday . DH had off on Friday and again, tried to surprise me by getting him on Friday but I figured it out!!!

So, Sonny came home on Friday!!! He's such a good boy. He gets along so well with our family. He has some interest in the kitties but we're working on that with him. He's doing better.

I love this boy with all my heart but I have this irrational fear that something is going to happen to him. I have to work on that.

Sonny was so good the first night. Slept through the night. The next two he was a little restless. Last night, he wouldn't settle down so DH went downstairs and slept on the dog bed next to his crate!!! I wish I had gotten a picture of that one!!!

I'll post pictures as soon as I can. Just wanted to introduce my Sonny!!!

Congratulations! He is a wonderful dog. Two of our dogs were adopted from GAA, too.

Edited because I made it sound like we only have two dogs. My grammar was terrible.

Christine,

Where does Sara sleep? My Bobbi whined until I let her sleep in my bedroom, then no noise, slept through the night.

Last night Sara started out downstiars and Sonny was in his cage on the main floor (we have a split). Eventually Sara joined him on her bed next to his cage but it didn't help. I thought about letting him in our room (3rd floor) but he won't sleep anywhere but his cage right now and I don't think we want to start moving the cage up and down the stiars each night and morning. I'm noticing now, that I'm sitting downstairs from him, he's fine. So maybe if we leave some lights on and the tv on so he can hear it, he'll be fine. Wish us luck tonight!!!

I'm sorry about your Hailey. I have a terminally ill 13yr old dog and just recently adopted a greyhound. I wish you and Sonny a long life of greyt health and happiness!
